Got the unexpected call: 126610ln - Pepsi Next?

Got an unexpected call yesterday afternoon from my SA. She said she has a 126610ln with my name on it. I was torn between the LV and LN, but I think the black is more versatile, and goes more with what I wear.

I’ve known this SA for over four years now and we’ve been in close contact. This is my second piece from her, the first being a blue datejust 41 in 2020.

She’s actually a distant family friend, so I text her every once in a while about watches and such.

Looking forward to picking it up, and I think it will get a lot of time in the rotation! Will post pics when I pick up on Saturday

I would love a BLRO jubilee next, and think that’s doable after buying a datejust and submariner date. Thoughts? Also, is it appropriate to hint or discuss the next on the wish list when you’re picking up a watch? What’s the proper etiquette?

Hopefully this is a great start to 2024 for not only me but all the collectors out there

Congrats! Tell them what you want next. Pepsi is just as hard as a Daytona.

I'm in LA and have a pretty decent spend (4 watches) with my AD. Been on the pepsi jubilee wait list over a year.

Congratulations on the Submariner Date Vince

I’d simply ask your sales associate, especially being that there is a family connection, you just never know … good luck

Congrats on your Sub!
It's never too early to inquire about the next one.

Hard to say. Hear different stories here in socal. I've gotten 2 gold subs (wht and yellow) and 2 steel datejusts before being offered a Starbucks.

Have been waiting on a Pepsi jubilee and Panda for over 2 years with a decent spend history.

I went grey for my sprite after prices fell last summer and will likely go grey moving forward (went grey for a PM gmt and PM daytona also late last year). Have already let my associate know I no longer have any interest in the other precious metal models on my "wish list."

Good luck! I've been thinking I have the connections and resources to source my watches and jewelry elsewhere so I'm not high on their list?

Congrats.
A Pepsi is a whole different ball game to a sub, but definitely worth trying - nothing to lose.

Nice one Vince, the bread and butter of Rolex. The black dial is the way to go and then you can add the LV if you enjoy this one. And, yes, ask about Pepsi, you are an enthusiast of the brand.

If you want one, ask. You’ve got a great watch in a ceramic Submariner, enjoy it.

I would not bring it up unless the SA does. Otherwise, it is best to just say thanks and enjoy the moment. Long term the SA will appreciate you more. Why would SAs allocate watches to people who seem to be never satisfied.

Collectors, by nature, ARE never satisfied. Rolex SAs understand. Nothing wrong with mentioning what he wants, in the future. Both he and the SA know the game. Since he knows her personally, it’s even more OK to mention he’d like to go on the list, for a Pepsi.

Here’s the problem in a nutshell - a grown adult, competent enough in life to afford a $10,000 watch, pussyfooting around, unsure of whether to ask the Wizard if he will grant another request. Good God!!

Yeah, I hear you. We’ve seen a lot of similar posts. It is confounding, for sure.

It sure is hard to predict SA motivations but you never get what you want out of life without asking.

OC is tough. But never hurt to be open about it. Your SA might be just as open. Sometimes it's not upto him or her on hard pieces.

Also based in OC and I work with 2 ADs down here. Have purchased both 2 subs and 2 Djs, one of each model from both ADs. Been waiting on a BLRO pretty much ever since my first purchase. They were both blatant about the chances of a BLRO. I have seen people with boat loads of money, clients coming in to get their PM pieces polished, and even ran into Dana White at one of them…. AD didn’t even know who he was and didn’t give him the time of day which I found crazy.

Morale of my experience, as you know there is an immense amount of money in OC and no shortage of HNW clients. A family friend relationship might just be the trick, but doesn’t change their allocations. Either way best of luck my friend!

If you can get a BLRO after a Datejust and Sub then that AD is really looking out for you.

I've gotten to the point personally where I'm shifting my focus to the meteorite BLRO instead as I like PM more, but unfortunately it's not like that's an easy watch to get either.

If the SA does not know what it is you want next, how would you expect to get it?

the LN is actually more versatile and "low-key" than the LV. Congrats!

It’s really impossible to say. Only you will know your chances based on the relationship you have. Every AD and sales rep is different.

Ask and see. If you don’t buy a ticket, you can’t win the raffle.

Congrats, the LN is the way to go for your 1st Sub. As the SA is a family friend ask them for the BLRO. Worst they can say is no.

Thank you all! Picked it up today and couldn’t be happier. Once it’s on the wrist, you really realize how versatile it is and such a great daily watch.

Thank you everyone for your replies, particularly as it relates to SoCal and Orange County. Sounds like a heavy piece is in the cards next, per my SA

After flipping your sub, don't think you have a Pepsi coming next
