I have both, apologies for poor picture, I struggle to upload on here.
The Pilot is more of a chunky every day beater watch in my opinion, with a useful complication for travelling, the regulator is more delicate and refined, I wear it more as a smart dress watch. Smaller too, 40.5mm versus the Pilots 42mm. Two very different pieces so it depends what you’re after I guess. Regarding value retention, you’ll lose a bit on both if you buy from an AD but not too much. They can’t all be Nautilus/Aqua. The rose regulator is quite rare from what I can gather and a rather unusual unique piece in the line up. The white pilot will probably be discontinued next year so if that matters to you it’s worth considering. |

So upset. I moved houses this month. Lost both my 5235 g and my Rolex 16600 in the move. Do not believe it was the movers but not sure who else could have taken them.
The real test is whether I buy another 5235 or something else... I liked the uniqueness of the 5235 but there are some interesting options... |

Finally nail it and paid. I must say it’s not that difficult to read the time. I got used to it soonest. Certainly feel very different from other Patek. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Much rather have the watches than the money but I settled with them yesterday and they were very fair. I think I have my eyes on something... Will provide pics on an incoming thread once deals aren’t finalized. |

For 5235r, would it be better with deployant buckle? I am toying with taking one.

I suppose you could get a deployant clasp and straps on the 5235 if one really wanted to. |

Really liking this each time I see it in person. Such a unique dial and the way it changes tones based on how the sunlight hits it. Just amazing!

Mine says hello! Love the RG version as well but decided to go for the G which is a little bit more understated...

IMHO I think the G is the real keeper and will stand the test of time. Launched in 2011, it is almost a decade old and it really have not date a single bit! |

Both are keepers but it is a long haul. Also is niche market in a sense that it appeals to narrower range of collectors.

Congrats! Excellent choice. Can you share what’s your wrist size?

Very interesting question to me I’m in the market for my first patek and I was just about to make a post myself, I couldn’t of phrased it any better. Don’t want to hijack your thread but I would like to know the same answers to this question regarding the 5205r if anyone would like to share views. |

Has anyone swapped out the leather strap for something else? I'm leaning towards swapping it out for something more causal and with less taper.
I'm curious whether anyone has gone down that path with their regulator. Would love to see some photos if you have any to share. |
