Eichi II resale value
Would anyone care to have a guess at how well an Eichi II would hold its value (or not)? I don’t think ever seen for sale second hand.

Cheers. It wouldn’t be to flip. I haven’t sold a watch yet other than to trade it for another one. At the same time, owning a liquid watch like a Rolex gives you some peace of mind. If you need the money, you can get it quickly. There are also some Langes I’d love (One Moon, 1815 UpDown, Saxonia thin, but I hear they can take up to a year to sell. Unfortunately, it leaves me feeling a little exposed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I’ve been wondering what a fair price for one is used. Can’t seem to find comps

Feels like a watch that buyers would want a deal on and sellers wouldn’t want to slash the price to get there (too nice!). Illiquid but I imagine the market for them might be strongest in Asia?

Yes. Most popular in SG I think. I’ve seen three pop up there for resale within the last two years. Bob Maron had one for sale early this year. Plus the two from ACM and Philips. All together there may be 150 or so in the world so it’s a rare piece but also not high in demand. Can still order from GS boutiques. I’d assume at least at 10% commission to sell. Maybe 25% if you go through an auction house.

Is there any type of aggregating site or service for watches sold across different auctions, sites, etc. Something with a wider range than watchrecon? Something akin to classic [.com] for cars?

I look at WatchCharts occasionally but they don't seem to take into account things like condition and if the watch comes with B&P, etc. I've seen minty full sets labelled High Price next to banged up watch-only listings of the same reference labelled Fair Price just because they're a couple of hundred $$ cheaper.

The big issue is liquidity as others said. There are not many buyers for this watch. Of course a dealer might take it from you but boy are you going to pay for that lack of liquidity. Did ACM own those Eichi’s outright or were they consignment? Probably the latter, and if so that’s another relevant data point.
In my head if I was buying this watch my assumption on exit price would be $30k. If I can live with that then I’d be OK to buy, but if a sale at that price would be something I could not swallow then I’d have to pass. |

FYI to anyone looking, Philips NY is auctioning a pt white dial Eichi 2 next week. Philips HK auctioned a blue one for $50k two weeks ago. |
