Taupe 26420 side by side with Rolex SD43

Pictures. I always wondered. Love them both. But thought others might find the comparison useful.

Great info/pictures. Much appreciated that you shared these with the community. Would you say the 26420 is wearing bigger (I'm guessing it is)? I'm used to the SD43, but even if I have visited the local AP store a ton of times, I've actually never tried on offshore crono.

Beautiful combo. :)

Cheers,
Joe

Yes. The SD43 is more comfortable on my 7.5 inch wrist. In all honesty, the 26420 on rubber is nowhere near as comfortable, but that may just be because it’s new and I haven’t got used to it. But I love the profile and the dial and the “I finally got an AP” excitement. And I’m pretty sure I’ll keep this AP forever, because if it became a daily wearer, I would get used to it. Habit = comfort. What’s my point? I had the 126660 James Cameron. Utterly gorgeous. But I never put a watch on and then took it off hours later more often than that JC. Had to let it go to a happier home. The 26420 isn’t that bad. It isn’t top heavy, flopping around like the JC. I’m pretty confident that I’m going to love wearing it. But AP rubber bracelets take a little time to get used to.

Very interesting. I'm still waiting for "my" Royal Oak to arrive at the AD. I'm guessing, since the wait has now been 3 years, that I might never see one (HK is definitely not the best place when it comes to buying a desirable model). I've always admire the Offshore, but at the same time thought it will probably be to big for my wrist (flat 7 inch). However, I can easily pull of the SD43, and I agree with you; it sits very comfortable on the wrist.

I should probably, once again..., pop in to the AD and have a chat with them (always very friendly and easy to talk to) and at the same time ask if they have any Offshore that I could try on. Also, good note regarding the rubber bracelets.

Congrast on these two fine models.

Cheers,
Joe

I love the rubber strap with the AP deployment buckle. You will too.

I have both, actually I also own the black dial, and I like wearing the rubber 26420 than the steel bracelet, but maybe I just got used to it already.

Something about the AP shape makes it carry the large size better. Not sure what it is.

Or maybe it’s just my personal preference.

And another little comparison for you

Left to right, AP Diver 15710ST (42mm)/Rolex "James Cameron" Deep Sea 126660 (44mm) and the AP ROO 43 26420 (43mm);

Nice! Really loving the black steel version, hoping to get the call at some point myself!

The taupe dial with a black rubber strap is definitely my favorite combo, good on AP to have released a quick change system for their straps on the Offshore.

Both are really cool, I feel like the Taupe is more sporty vs the black being able to dress up a bit more.

Very impressive ROO duo! Nice contrast of color and material combos. I have the taupe but have also been very attracted to the blue/grey in titanium. But your contrasting pieces make more sense I think.
