Lost in Translation
These days marks 15 years of one of my favorite films, Lost in Translation by Sofia Coppola, daughter of Francis, one of the greats in the history of cinema.
Many will wonder why this thread is here, and it's because the great Bill Murray wears a Datejust 16234 on the tape, and it's possibly the big one responsible for me having that same watch. Bill Murray with the 16234 Sofia Coppola and her Oscar for the best screenplay with Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson ... and this is my 16234 Enviado desde mi SM-G930F mediante Tapatalk |

Great post! One of my all-time favorite movies. Definitely a top 5 for me. I wasn't into watches at the time and didn't notice his DJ back then. The DJ might move it up a slot by itself.
I really think the movie makes way more sense if you've ever been to Japan. Just a classic. Amazing Bill Murray - one of the best comedic actors of all-time - is in one of the best dramas of all time. |

Entertaining movie, and who can't sympathize with travel related sleep deprivation. Quaint story and anything Bill Murray is in is worth seeing. Scarlett Johansson's character was so self indulgent and so very young in body and soul it was hard to take her seriously. I felt the same way about the direction. But then again I'm an old man and have never understood young woman so I don't think I was the target demo for this movie and Sophia while a very good writer wasn't penning the script for me.
Never change the channel when it's on though especially if I have insomnia myself LOL. One of your pictures captures the moment BM delivers the line of the movie as far as I'm concerned. Charlotte asks "Is that for me (round stuffed penguin toy)" Bob Harris: "Yeah, it can be for you" Just perfect deadpan, understated and very funny.

15 years later, at times, it can still be a challenge.

Great Movie. I stayed at the Park Hyatt Tokyo a few times just before and after the film was shot there, and it brings back good memories re-watching (which I did just last month). The deleted scenes on one of the DVD/Blu-ray editions has the full version of the "Matthew's Best Hit TV" scene, which is hilarious. I think they cut it because Murray gets upstaged a bit by the crazy talk show host.
Edit: Found the clip on YT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WxHf1PBOWcs

Awesome - great hotel and movie. When I made a visit to Tokyo last year I chose the Park Hyatt on the basis of some scenes of the movie in that hotel. Nice views and live music from the cozy lounge (feels much smaller in person than in the film)... Suntory time! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I watched this film and got one really good laugh out of it.
I love Bill Murray and I love Scarlett Johansson and I enjoyed their performances. For some reason, I just didn't get the it. Maybe I should give it another shot.
