WG is definitely different. More of a grey hue to it.

You absolutely can tell the difference of a WG watch if you have a WG watch. If you don't it probably looks the same. So it depends on your frame of reference.

Comparing these watch materials in a pix you would need to know which was which.

See post 33.

In a pix of just one watch you would probably have little chance of identifying the material.

Holding them for comparison you would certainly know which one was stainless/white Au or stainless/Pt.

Holding a white Au model and a Pt model for comparison well good luck with that.

But then you could just check the hallmarks.

Warmer more incandescent colour on the WG. Like old halogen headlights = WG and Xenons = SS

I'm sure there will be plenty of images posted about this.

WG has a slight yellowish hue, for most will pass as another SS piece

Yes there is a difference. WG has a warmer look to it and in certain light you can actually see the yellow from the gold. What I have noticed is if you're holding only a SS or only a WG, it is much harder to tell but if they are side by side, the difference is immediately noticeable.

Definitely easier to tell the differences when next to each other. But I've always tried to describe SS and "cold and sterile" looking and WG as "warm and subtle" probably not the best descriptors...
