Rolex Date or Rolex Datejust

34mm versus 36mm

Not a big difference in price ... € 300

White stick dial or silver stick dial

Jubilee or oyster?

As i have a Rolex SS Buckle, I would wear it from time to time with a black or brown alligator strap ...

So what do you think?

I have a 6.5" wrist and my Air King looks as good as my SD, GMT or even my Panerais...

As the watch would be flashy, i think smaller could be more elegant ...

It's really personal choice. I have a TT date to match my mom's watch, and I have several TT DJ's and I even have a AK .. I like them all but I will say that I think the jubilee beacelet is more comfortable. That's just my opinion.

They're both the same other than than Date being 34mm and the Datejust being 36mm. However based on Rolex's website all the new Datejust come with the parachrom bleu hairspring whereas the date does not seem to have it yet. I would vote for the Date with silver stick dial because almost everyone else has a Datejust. I also find the Date to be a lot cleaner looking because it doesn't have the outer roman numerals on the dial. But the Date with black dial and sticks would be my choice.

DJ would be the way to go. The Date is a fine machine but you have to want it.

date just all the way - in my opinion its a better watch. The date is just a little smaller that i would like. Also, in terms of resale, the date just will do better!

For me, the best combos for a DJ are fluted bezel/jubilee bracelet is more dressy and a smooth bezel/oyster bracelet is more casual. I like both, but I have this:

That's odd, there should be a black one. But I don't think Rolex displays all their dials on their website. But the members here are correct, you have to really want the date to enjoy it because it is relatively small. And for $300 more you get a more well known model that is bigger and has a better resell value. Afterall the datejust is Rolex's best seller if I recall correctly. The tough choice will be choosing dial, bracelet and bezel combination.

Try both on and buy whichever one feels good to you. I used to be concerned about resale value but after finding out what a used watch is worth (I always buy new), I just cannot stomach the loss no matter what model, I have never sold one yet. So unless you are a flipper the Datejust may have a bit of advantage in resale value but from what I am seeing smaller watches are actually on a come back.

very nice. i like black dials ... i had a white daytona and it never warmed up to me, so i did let it go .... i believe would it have been black, i would still have it ... but i think a date or date just would be nice in white or silver ,,, for a change ...

i think you are right, not all the dials are on rolex.com ... i have seen different ones in boutiques ,,, or maybe they were last season

For me it came down to the dial. The Date with sticks is more attractive to me because it is simpler than the railroad tracks and roman numerals that are on the Datejust with sticks.

Get the one you like better.
