72 DateJust // First post // introduction
Hi all,
The is my first post on this forum. My name is Chris and I own a 1972 Rolex DateJust 1601 Wideboy. I absolutely love it. I wanted to own something that feels permanent. For some reason I have this strange belief that objects can sometimes absorb experiences - places you've been, people you've seen - and it's comforting to look down at your wrist and realize that it's still ticking and that you have somehow both been through the same experiences together. For me, as a professional photographer, I like having my watch on through all of the interesting places I go: from the Alps in Italy for a commercial shoot to Sing Sing prison for a magazine article. My watch becomes my well-weathered comrade - like a cozy blanket (albeit an expensive one). Anyways, just wanted to take the time to introduce myself and speak from experiences that I'm sure a lot of people in this forum can relate to. Looking forward to reading other people's stories and experiences! -C |

Welcome Chris. The sense of history is a big part of the appeal of vintage objects.
Whether you make your own provenance or know where your watch has been it always makes it more interesting. Nice DJ! |

Not to burst your bubble, but that’s not a wideboy. Attractive watch nonetheless.
