My AD is getting two in October and both are already sold. He's also got four other customers on a waiting list. To some, money isn't an issue. I'm hoping to get in there and see it before they are picked up.

I think the next Daytona will be priced with the yachtmaster two ss. 18,500ish for ss. They are setting the framework now. It will also have an added complication.

I wonder how it would really look at different light conditions.

At night it might look stunning as the brown bezel might look a little darker than most photos....one photo on the web provides that look a little but not enough.
The large typical bezel of the late Daytonas in that brown light medium tone seem to dominate and give the watch a cheap look.....now the two colors on the dial are a great match but the bezel takes away from looking elegant as big as it is in that color so in the day light I can only guess it might look like a bling cheap look.
Nothing wrong with platinum that part I feel is appropriate for an anniversary special one that appeals to the ones that can effort it....but if that brown was a hair darker where it looked almost black at night and only slightly lighter in the day time it might have taken the cheap look away and looked like what it is worth.
I find other similar Daytonas that I see here a lot better looking .

On the other hand one might get used to it and feel is the best one.
Thinking out loud here...

At this price point, it's not "rather" but "in addition to" for any prospective owner.

Hahaha. But i have been thinking how it will hold its value in a decade or so being the only platinum rolex sport model and (from my opinion) will not sell well

Or a YG YMII, Mike. Either or both would look dandy next to the platty DD2 of yours.

That is a stunning picture. I normally don't like brown but that combo of chestnut brown against the icy blue dial is sensational.

Phong, YM2 is a foregone conclusion. I'm already thinking of what's next.

How that is "hideous" is really beyond me.

So the colour scheme may not be universally appealing. Fair enough. But that makes the whole thing hideous? Really? I mean... really??

It's not as bad as that gold & jewel encrusted leopard/tiger daytona.

Supposedly there have been 2 pre sold in Rolex Orlando. They are expecting it to be a very low production model that will have waiting lists. We'll see.
