store made dials?

I was recently in Las Vegas at a jewelry store, I was looking in the display case and saw they had some dials for sale, I inquired and the lady told me that they make their own dials. I asked more about it and she said they are authorized by Rolex to manufacture in house there own dials and put the rolex logo on it and sell it as a rolex part. I'm not talking about those crazy customized diamond dials or anything like that, just a normal run of the mill dial. Anyone ever heard of this? I was very skeptical but I wasn't about to argue with her.... was I fed a bunch of BS?

An interesting sales story - some gullible shoppers would easily believe it. And this is one way we get the more interesting dials seen in WatchOut!!!

Capetown Diamond Corp in GA does this. They simply say they are part of their "Geneva Collection". Total crap. But Rolex never put a stop to it.

Capetown Diamond Corp. is close to my home. They do in fact say that their dials are not authentic Rolex, and they give their own warranty on them. These aftermarket dials are definitely not for me, but they are not trying to pass them off as originals just for clarification.

I agree. They don't claim they are genuine Rolex. However, once you apply the Rolex brand, logo and customary lettering, it becomes an illegal copy. Just my opinion. In terms of Rolex, I don't think there is a grey area for this practice. Thoughts?

I was under the impression that they just put diamonds, etc. on genuine dials, thus making them aftermarket products (non-genuine). Brother, I stand corrected if they are manufacturing the whole shooting match. Next time I'm in their area, I'll check it out ~ you have me curious now!

I think Rolex quality control would have an absolute mass nervous breakdown if they even thought for one moment that was happening......

I guess im allowed to say the stores name, it was tower of jewels or something like that... Located in the underground shopping area attached to ballys casino.
And the lady was very clear to me in saying they make the dials from scratch and are authorized by rolex to do so. I didnt believe her knowing how strict rolex is, but at the same time didnt want to argue with her. The dials did look very good mind you i didnt look at them too closely.

Me either, but I'm guessing they are not "authorized by Rolex" to do so.

Tower of jewels is on Sahara and commercial. They have a pre owned selection but are not an authorized dealer. Never been to Bally's.

I manufacture official Rolex dials in my woodshed made out of paper mâché and cat-poop....they're nice looking little stinkers, but hard to read once you smoosh the crystal on top
