Funny Watch story.

Having bought and sold many watches up and down the uk I have had the distinct pleasure of meeting some fascinating people from all walks of life. About two years ago I was intrigued about a Franck Muller King Conquistador which was for sale which I managed to acquire for £3000.00. I thought this was possible to make a few quid on and I thought it was very cheap. I met the young gentleman at his house in London which was a beautiful mansion overlooking the Thames. He was quite a young gentleman in his early thirties and clearly was doing well for himself considering the Veyron he had parked near his triple garage. I checked the watch over and the paperwork and all was good. I said to him as I always believe on being fair that I was happy to buy the watch but I'm my opinion the watch was an extremely good buy for what he was asking for it.
He explained he had traded it in about two months ago in exchange for a Hublot Big Bang and he had regretted it ever since. I naturally asked him what it was about the watch he did not like compared to his previous piece. He told me he loved it but he was a city trader and since he had bought it he had made countless losses he had gone from hero within his organisation to zero and he was personally putting all his bad luck firmly on the watch as he felt it was the watch which was giving him the run of bad luck.
We talked some more and completed the transaction and I duly sold it for a small profit which enabled me to buy a kitchen table with the proceeds.
About two months later he contacted me to thank me for buying the watch as literally his run of bad luck changed virtually the next day and he had just bought an 18ct yellow gold Rolex Daytona Paul Newman dial with some of his latest bonus.

Great Story.

From the time I was a little child I always liked my father's diamond wedding ring. My parents divorced when I was young and my father stopped wearing it. Over the years I asked many times if I could have it. Finally in my thirties my father gave it too me. Asked why he waited so long he explained, son I believe diamonds carry either good or bad luck, for me this diamond has always carried bad luck. I wanted you to be established before I gave it to you, if you find your luck changes sell this ring immediately.

Since then I've been blessed with two wonderful children and several great watches. I guess I'll keep it.

Love that story.

I just posted yesterday about some bad luck. It prompted me to buy a watch, thinking I live only once, and I need to enjoy the moment.

It hasn't yet arrived.

Yet. Just tonight I got a call from a customer. A big project I've been bidding was just awarded to my company.

I've a sneaky suspicion that this will be my "lucky" watch.

Thanks for sharing. A great story.

Funny how things work out. Think big, win big. Works for me.

As for the Muller, perhaps the curse of the monobrow has surfaced?

Great story. I've had bad luck items and when they're spotted they're gone.

Interesting thread. I received a Rolex as a gift in the mid 1990's and have always worn it when I needed to be "on my game". It has never failed me. I don't believe in superstition but this watch always delivers for me.

I think the Veyron brought him the bad luck. He should have sold that to you for cheap.

I didn't think it was possible to have bad luck from a watch. Nice story.

If anyone here has bad luck with their Rolex, I am more than happy to take it for cheap to save them from such terrible times

Make that two of us.

Especially if it is a 6538 Big Crown that is causing you the bad luck!
