1971 Datejust - Should I sell or keep it?

This was my FIRST Rolex. after taking a year off, I am considering a purchase, but I am trying to keep my habit in check, selling one to buy one, helps me justify.

So what do you think, should I hang on to this one or let it go. It is such a great example but I regret that I do not reach for it as often.

Never, you will only regret it. I sold mine, only to realise my stupidity; and ended up buying another.

That is a beautiful watch.

Curious, what are you considering buying?

I think it depends on what else has caught your eye. For what you'd get from this DJ, you could probably save up a little longer to cover the difference.

I've just bought pretty much the exact same DJ as my first Rolex, slightly newer at 1972 :)

Can't stop wearing it :)

Its a beautiful watch and your first. Unless you don't like to wear it often, I would keep such a nice example.

If you're not wearing it and covet something else you should sell it. The good thing is u can find another 16XX and it won't be too expensive. The sentimental feeling of your first rolex will probably ebb as u start wearing the new watch u covet anyway. Let me know if u do. My younger brother is in the mkt.

Keep it, I sold my 16613 which I'd had for 10 years and seriously regret it.

It's a very beautiful watch. I remember I chose to sell my first Rolex that I got and I regreted it but I have acquired a few more along the way but the agony of letting my first go was hard to bear. Ultimately the choice is yours and yours alone. But good luck with whatever you decided. Cheers!

Have you handled JS Watches in person? I was a bit underwhelmed. The pictures look amazing, but they didn't blow me away in the flesh. I don't think I'd give up a DJ for one. Maybe you can try a nice new leather strap?
