1680 Loose insert
My Dad wore his 1978 1680 daily for over 30 years, and I have put a fair amount of wear on it in the past 5 years. I believe the bezel insert is original or at least period correct. The other day it fell out and I was lucky to notice it right away and found it. It remains very loose fitting. I have a service insert witch fits nice and tight but was hoping there was a way to get the original to fit tighter. Any help would be appreciated.

Take it to a good independent service who has a Rolex account.
DO NOT send it to a Rolex service center; they will want to completely restore the watch, completely ruining its history, patina, value.

Is the bezel insert in your photo the one you think is original?
As mentioned above, a good Rolex-qualified watchmaker will have a tool capable of making the type of adjustment you need.
