1982 Rolex have tritium dial?

Did Rolex still use tritium in 1982? When did they stop using tritium?

Yep. Tritium phased out in the very late 90’s.

I think the question you meant to ask was not related tritium but rather: when did they shift from matte dial to WG surrounds?

I believe the first 5513 w/ WG appeared in 1983. I'm not sure if there was some sort of a transitional period but in any case a matte dial in 1982 watch does not sound odd.

As a '82 birth year fellow, I've been looking for the perfect matte dial 1665 or 16660. Unfortunately my wallet does not agree with my tastes. I may have to settle on a 16800, but those are getting a bit out of hand as well. Luckily I have some newer models that could hit the chopping block if I find THE ONE.

Happy hunting.

tritium ended in 1998.

16750 / 5513 / 16800(0) changed from matt dial to glossy with white gold surroundings depending on model, around 1982/1983/1984
