Dipping my toe into Panerai - 796 Left-Handed ?
Never tried one on but love the design of the Luminor and the history of the brand. Never ventured into the brand as I have 7in wrists and never thought I could carry one off - but starting to think otherwise.
I am left-handed and always wear my watch on my right wrist - so am looking for a Left-Handed model. Looking for a model no bigger than 44mm, with a seconds sub-dial ideally on brown / tobacco vintage type strap - but can buy later also. I think the 796 has the new in-house movement with the blue "8 Days" text on the dial. Have also seen PAM115, 22 & 56 models on Chrono24 for sale which look great as well as models referred to as "Destro" ?? How is the weight of a titanium model compared to say a Submariner (smaller watch, steel but similar weight ?) All advise appreciated. Thanks FC |

I think the 796 is a real winner and ticks all of your boxes. As for weight I suspect it’d be a bit lighter than the submariner. Titanium is pretty magical.

Nice watch with the 8-day movement with power reserve indicator on the back.
Up to you if you like the “8 DAYS” text and if you like it in bright blue mixed with ecru lume.... 219 is another to check out. |

Appreciate the responses.
Agree on the PAM796 and the blue text - not sure about that. I like the PAM219 but has no seconds sub-dial. Is the Destro model something special ? Have found THIS one from 2001 which looks nice and would be a good introduction to the brand, with both distressed brown leather and original PAM rubber strap for a reasonable price. Is the lume material the same from a 2001 PAM56 as a 2019 PAM796 ? Thanks again FC |

So I now know that Destro simply reflects a left-handed model.
It's a difficult choice. I really like the PAM056 I put a link to - brown leather and black rubber straps with all boxes and papers and lovely tobacco dial, but is from 2001 and titanium - am worried I may not like the weight of the titanium case. I also found a pretty nice PAM115 from 2003 with similar spec. But for "just" a little more I can get a brand new PAM796 with 8-Day movement (despite the obnoxious blue text) and power reserve meter on the back - I always hate that feature on the dial. |

I’m also into destro pams as I wear my pams on my right wrist
My suggestion will be to also try the 368 (yup,it’s 47mm) as I have slightly smaller wrist than yours but I do wear 368 daily I like 368 because it has titanium case and the 8 days movement is P2002 which has a bit more extras in comparison to the P5001 in 796 (quickset hour, seconds reset) 368 is also an LE of 1000 I also have pam 345 but I think this will be a bit too busy for your taste and might be a bit hard to find due to limited production number (150 pcs) |

Thanks for the feedback.
Thats a little more than I wanted to spend to be honest on something that may not stay in the collection too long, and also think that 47mm is too big for me. So the new P5001 movement is not quickset ? Yes the 345 is too busy for me. Is there a noticeable difference in the weight of the Ti watches over steel ? |

Another alternative might be pam 117 as it’s the only destro titanium 44mm luminor with display back, only 300 made (it’s titanium version of 115 with tobacco dial)
There are also pam 22,26,239 as well Personally I prefer titanium pam as they’re much lighter especially on bigger pieces (i think each 219 and 123 are still heavier than 368) The thing with 8 days movt is...it makes you lazy...I kept forgetting to wind my P3000 based watches I tried P5000 and they don’t have quickset hour, but I’ve never tried the 796 (the only model with P5001) |

Thank you - very helpful. Is there any downside - other than not knowing the service history - of buying a 10 year old PAM ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The only downside I can think of anout older eta based pams are the possibilities of fake watch as they can be hard to distinguish
