Angel of Grief
One of my favourite all time sculptures, called the Angel of Grief.
You can read about it here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angel_of_grief The sun was very very bright, and I probably should have used the flash to fill in and eliminate the shadows. But I did not, and now I have a reason to go back. Couldn't resist having my car in one of the shots.

Thanks guys.
Angel of Grief is an 1894 sculpture by William Wetmore Story which serves as the grave stone of the artist and his wife at the Protestant Cemetery, Rome. I have been using it as a wallpaper on my phone for quite a while, and since TX has a copy of it, I decided to visit the cemetery where it is used as a headstone.

Beautiful pictures! Thanks for sharing.
Another sculpture that I find very moving is the Lion Monument in Lucerne: http://www.digital-photo.com.au/tag/luzerne |
