Oh my! From that photo you have posted above, the crystal I purchased from Hong Kong is identical including the height... I am going to local service shop (who familiar with older Subs like 5513 *** crossing my finger***) and install it to see if the straight-edge shoulder is exposed minimally (less than 1mm)...

P.S. I still have not find a free and reliable photo hosting site to report back. Any recommendation beside an TapaTalk App is appreciated.

Just to add to this thread, here is the original T-19 dome on my 5512, 3.7 mil. Looks a little taller than some of the other domes on this thread that are also said to be original T-19s, but seems very close to the shape of the T-19 on the beautiful gilt 5513 posted by Southtexas.

The shape of the insert can have a visual impact, of course, especially if they flatten out, and then there's polishing that can change the shape over time.

I've also read that the original T-19s (not service crystals) actually changed slightly through the years, so that could also account for some subtle variations.

IMHO if you want the dome look by an aftermarket crystal for under $25.00 or (2-$400 if you feel better thats its real) and get your watchmaker to pressure test it after install. I have a few dozen originals that I took off of watches that are not useable and next to the aftermarkets I cannot tell.
I agree with greekbum. 99.9 percent of superdomes being sold are fake. Shrewd sellers put them in baggies that say Rolex or paper baggies that they probably had their cat or dog pee on it to give it a dated look.

Friends,

I have been in the market to get a good replacement for my 5513. However, I have not been able to get one. The GS PA462-20A supplied by OTTO FREI looks good. I was also thinking in the german company and Swiss companies generic types. With so many different variants in sizes I truly do not know which fit my 1989 model the best. In my view the vital measurement to get right is the 303 mm wide.
Can you please help me out if you have gone through this process?

Thanks!
G.

Could it be that the price for the T19 by Michael Young is now about 180 USD? It is three times the price that it used to be.

There are some separate threads. I’ve read mixed reviews.

Yes heard one or two too
Personally I don't get it - aftermarket is aftermarket - there are some really fabulous looking aftermarket inserts, dials, gilt handsets, 7206 style bracelets etc etc....but we shun them and all who sail in them...but aftermarket plexi's seem to get an exemption...baffles me !

Not really Paul, from a technical point of view, a plexi just out of production is safer than one that's been out for some decades.

I have used 3 D19 TrueDomes and one D39 and am about to have my 2nd D39 installed. They've all passed the pressure test.

What makes them great is they are fake but safe and look just like the real McCoy T19/T39
