Think I read 6k for the 62mas and 6159. Think the tuna is a little cheaper.

Hilarious. I'll have to buy an 037 just because.

I like everything about it. The price, however...

Where can we get on the list for one? With only 1100 being made, which stores will be able to get one?

Edit: Found a local dealer and put down a deposit. This AD is expecting 1 or 2 and I'm #1 on their list. Pricing hasn't been confirmed but I should know soon.

I'll pass on the 6k for that 62mas and keep my 2017 version--but I definitely want that tropic-looking strap...

$6300 for the 037 is rather salty but I'm still interested. I love everything about my 017. Adding a hi-beat helps justify the upgrade.

On a side note, Hodinkee is incorrect about the 037 and 039 having iron dials. According to the Seiko JP release, that's only on the 041. https://www.seikowatches.com/jp-ja/n...05-68654250875

All right. So I’ve been marinating on this all day and I’m gonna reserve judgment til I see one in the flesh. But the “modern reinterpretation” of the Williard just looks like a reissue. It’s a little smaller than the sla033, but as someone that dropped over 4K last year, to see this watch which looks almost identical is a little disheartening. I’m really hoping that in the flesh there’s a discernible difference and I feel like my money was well spent. The new ones have a nice 6r35 movt as well. Ugggghhhh.

I always find it somewhat odd when fairly expensive watches have the exact same movement as other watches from the same company at a fraction the cost . The new Alpinist has the 6R35. Its $725.

Which of the new Seikos are you referring to? The top three divers have the Hi Beat movement, the 6R watches listed say TBD for price, no?

With respect to the movement, I was just going based on another comment in the thread, which i understood to suggest that the new divers had the 6r35 movement. May have been talking about a different watch.

I must have misunderstood because the HODINKEE article above shows the movements are Hi Beat.

Nonetheless, the prices for these are listed in the same article. One of them is close to 7k.

They're all ridiculously priced. The 116500LN on your wrist probably cost Rolex about $400-500 to manufacture, market and ship to dealers. But, here we are.

I somewhat wish Seiko movements held better accuracy but have since learned to embrace it. My 017 is easily within 5 seconds daily and that's still pretty good. Hi-beats should theoretically be better but we'll see. This will be my first.

I’m kind of with you on this... but I’m probably going to buy one especially with the bracelet...I love my Willard and gets ton of wrist time. I really like all of the releases TBH.

I'm disappointed the SLA037 still has a 19mm strap width instead of industry standard 20mm.

Seiko has no brains to make it just a fraction larger. I'm sure the reason is they wanted to re-use the tooling that they have already made and used on the SLA017. Cheap skates!

The 6R LE of 5500 appears to have a retail of around $1300 US

That's a fair point. The 19mm lug width is my only major complaint on the 017.

These cases are all done by CNC anyway. The tooling required for a 19mm case would be the same as a 20. So, yeah, cheapskates!

Holy sh*t, it’s gonna be a great year for Seiko! Exciting! Reminds me of how I used to feel about Rolex at Basel each year.

Funny that all the additional announcements have been removed ! As stated

“Previously there were a number of additional watches listed on this page. These watches were shown in the Seiko 2020 catalog that was provided on the seikowatches.com website.

Unfortunately this catalog was incorrectly uploaded by Seiko as it contained a number of watches that are still under embargo (as of 2020-03-06). The catalog has now been removed from the Seiko website and I have removed the information previously contained as per the request for Seiko Australia. These new models will be announced in coming weeks and will appear on local Seiko sites when officially released.”
