What do you mean by going back to MK1 dial?

Black dial was always in DeepSea. They added JC dial 4 years back but still kept Black dial. Now they updated both JC and Black dial now.

I see original JC might retain some of its value still but I don't see how the original Black dial will retain value. It should be easy purchase and current Black is much better watch than older Black.

Trust me, I felt the same way this morning, waking up, immediately go on Rolex website to see a "new" Deepsea D-blue. Then I thought, our D-blue are the 1st generation, original JC commemorative watch.
I like the design change. Will I trade it for the new one? No. Just like if I had the 1st generation Porsche 911, will I trade it for the 2018 911? No way.. even that is is probably 100x technologically advanced.

I would completely agree to disagree with you. I have MK I bought back in 2008. I would never ever trade it up for new 126660. After many wrist days serviced it last year. Just before servicing deviation was 2 sec per day. Currently it has deviation while on wrist 0 sec per day, crown down 0 sec, dial up +1 sec per day. By the way i also have JC MK I as well. Will buy MK II but will always keep MK I.

Dblue 1st gen

I agree . Hold on to those 1st gens .They will surely be creeping up. I wonder how many 1st gens were produced in 3.5 years ? My guess is not that many.

I'm very surprised Rolex has released a new DSSD. I figured with the size of the SeaDweller growing to 43mm, the 44mm DSSD would be retired. Looks like Rolex wants to have some big watches in the lineup.

Long story but I have 2x JC in BNIB condition. Going to hedge by moving one on and retaining the other.

Will look to get the new model, proper bracelet and new mechanism make it a better watch.

This makes the DSSD waaaay better in my opinion. As a former owner who flipped I think the bracelet wish would have saved me.

I like what they've done but I need to see, hold, and put it on my wrist first. I'm sure it will be a long while before that happens..

What might get me to swap out my gen 1 JC would be the new movement and slightly wider bracelet in that order.

Yeah I really didn’t see this one coming either. I have to say that I like it more now. It seems more in proportion. I’m still not buying one though!

Maybe I need new glasses but for the life of me I see the bracelet as exact as the original JC, if not can that new bracelet be installed on the original JC?

Prices have gained about 3000 USD already today, from 13000 USD to over 17000 USD. In Chrono24 it seems dealers are renewing their ads, as there are so many new offers coming all the time.

The DSSD is their technological showcase.
It would be a serious backward step to discontinue the model.
I see it remaining in one form or another.

The short answer is No.

Besides, where would one get a Bracelet from anyway?

That's my thought, I also think they are very proud of the hard won two primary colour insert, so these two will stay in the collection, with just refinements as time passes as usual.

I really like it. The wider bracelet better matches the size of the case, and the new endlinks should improve the fit on small-med wrists.

So the black deepsea prices sunk when the blue was released? Now there is an updated better version of the blue, you would think the older version will sink as well.

I would guess it will be the same width as the SD43 which I believe is 1mm wider then the DSSD

The font on the new black dial looks like the same font on the Mk1 black dial when the DSSD was first launched around 2008. It doesn't look like the Mk2 and Mk3 black dials that were subsequently introduced.

Humm I guess because its still new. Would it be wise to buy the 1st gen JC vs this one? When will it be available?

Agreed, it never looked right to my eyes.

In A/B comparison, it looks like the end links are much shorter which IMO has a very beneficial impact on the watch.

I have a feeling quite a few people had these hoarded in the hopes they would be discontinued. More supply in the market = prices coming down, at least temporarily.

As I've said on other threads, I think the 1st gen D-Blue will do just fine in the long run, all this talk of "sinking" or "crashing" is complete hogwash and has never really played out in Rolex history. That said, because there is a replacement and not complete discontinuation, there might be a temporary dip in prices as people who would have bought the 1st gen now shift demand over to the new one (some people have to have the latest and shiniest), and some 1st gen owners might sell to upgrade. It's not the overnight spike you would have seen if the DSSD was outright discontinued and I seems like a couple of people were pretty disappointed by that!
