Scams Galore

I posted a WTB and a FS ads. 5 contacted me, 4 were scammers. I recently returned to the forum scene. How things have changed. Be careful out there.

What tipped you off they were scammers? It might help other people to know.

My experience is WTB posts bring out the sharks... wish that wasn't the case.

Terrible and inconsistent communication, they never call. Don't click on any links they send you, probably phishing links. Generally, if the price is too good to be true, probably is.

No, recently signed up for this forum. I was on Vintage Rolex Forum a long time ago.

This has been my experience too. I wanted to buy a Rolex leather strap that had some unique characteristics, incredible the number of people who contacted me trying to sell me things that were not close to what I was looking for. When I told these people the strap was not what I was looking for, all of them asked for my payment info and where they should send it.....probably bots.

WTB is full of scammers. My opinion, The WTB section should only be for pledge members...And also limited to people with 100 posts. This would drastically limit the scamming IMO.

Ever thought of scamming them back? Screwing with them for a long time? Agree to their price. Say that’s fair. Tell them you’ll take it (over many messages). Pretend to send them a western union, next Monday, and email them a WU number, one you made up, one that may have one to few or one to many characters. Let them go to westurn union and after wasting their time they’ll email again asking for a correct number, which you will provide, or maybe it’s wrong too. Shoot, sorry, I am very old and don’t see well, try this: 846658675xyzjghgjut1. That’s it, I thought the last letter was an I last time.

F with them until they call you a scammer.

I agree. If we play along then maybe we can get some valuable details about them if they slip up...and then we can provide the info to help catch them if they scam someone.
