Too bad about the Explorer II
great video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H0ZcS-wKU4c ...I really think Rolex made a mistake when redesigning the Explorer II into it's 2nd generation (16550) and consequent versions. By loosing it's baton hands and markers, and permanently coupled orange 24 hour hand it lost it's originality and personality and became more like an "almost GMT Master". Yes, the 216570 saw the return of the orange GMT hand, but that's just throwing the dog a bone. It would have been nice if at least just for the Explorer II they could have preserved it's paired GMT hand and quick-set date to make it distinctive from the GMT Masters...just saying. |
