Doesn’t seem out of line for that model especially including the original box and paperwork.

OP, do you think this is expensive for this particular watch/reference? It is quite coveted by collectors...

Saw that today. The same arcade (Argyll) also has a second hand GMT Batman for 10k, but it’s been sat in the window for over 2 weeks. It will be interesting to see how long it will sit there for before selling (I’d like one but not at that price)

The condition of the bracelet is horrible. Look at the stretch.

Yes ... Argyle Arcade .... or as I refer to it ... the arcade of dreams. I can never walk through there without coming out of the other end and lusting after something.

I wouldn't call that terrible, it's a bit worn.

So the price is fair? I'm saying "ouch" as it seems overly inflated to me when a similar age non-red can be had for £10,000 less.
£18,500 or $24,000 and some change, if you prefer, is a reasonable price for this model? Its obvious I'm no expert in pricing of vintage watches, hence the post. |

It's pounds, not dollars, so around $24K, which IS overpriced, IMHO, unless it's in great, perfect original condition. (Photo doesn't give enough info.)
The box and service papers are nice, but unless the watch comes as a full original set, with the Rolex guarantee paper, manuals, etc ..., they don't add much value. |

Seems about the price I would expect in a brick and mortar window.

Yes, perhaps, but asking price and getting price are two very different things. I've noticed several high-priced red 1680s at well-known dealers that have sat for a while.

As it turns out, I didn’t. However, I’m sitting in my hotel room in West Africa as I type and doing some research now that I’ve finished work for the day. 1st thing I have to take in to account is that these were no longer produced after 1973(?) which is 10 years out from the date I was told the watch was by my friend, so that alone would indicate a difference in price compared to the 16800. Then there’s the whole date and so on and so on. Still don’t think it’s worth £18,500/$24,000 ... however, I’m sure (pretty obvious from the responses) that there are those who will be interested. Missed this one cos of the title - posted another post earlier when in office after lunch about this one
Apologies for the double post Quite a price indeed - interesting to see if anyone bites. The arcade has a lot of walk through traffic & it only takes one I suppose The picture doesn’t do the watch justice & a bracelet could be easily sent off to bring it back to life Just a surprise to see it when usually there’s nothing that stands out |

"original service papers" sounds nice but doesn't add much value neither does a box, worn bracelet, service insert, lugs look a bit skinny (hard to tell from this image) so all in all a pretty pedestrian red sub for 18.5K GBP... sounds about right for a shop in a flash arcade

Uh..yes it does LOL. If everything added up correctly its probably not too far out of line. Least expensive one that HQ milton has right now is 26k without box or papers, MK IV dial.

Watch is over-priced. Services papers equate to a £500 service at RSC. Period correct box can easily be bought.
