Agree those are two “pros” in the 5711 column, but that’s why you need a SS Sub.

“This” and “That” cover almost any occasion.

At USD $24,000, I could almost stomach swimming with a 5711, but with resale prices above $40,000 for both the 5711 and 5712, I would never swim with either of these watches! I know some do, but I can't even imagine how I would feel if I banged the watch against the bottom of the pool, or hit a shell/rock in the ocean with it-- let alone worrying about whether 60M waterproofing would be enough to keep it waterproof (p.s. it is).

60M waterproof is PLENTY for normal wear, as well as not freaking out if you fall in a pool, get caught in a tropical rainstorm, clean your watch under running water, forget to take it off in the shower, etc.

IMO, the 5711's greater waterproof rating isn't even a factor as both watches are equally waterproof in their normal (likely) use range.

If I am going swimming in a pool or ocean, I am personally not going to wear a watch that is worth more than $40,000. That's also why Rolex makes a Submariner.

As I said, I know lots of people swim with them, but I just couldn't do it. Not worried about the water... worried about banging it into the side or bottom of the pool or scratching it in the ocean on sand, pebbles, rocks, shells, sharks, etc...

That being said, if I was willing to wear a 5711 in the water, I'd be willing to wear a 5712 too. 60M waterproof, especially from Patek, is plenty.

If i see a shark, water ingress in my 5711 would be the least of my worries.....

What I like the most about 11 is that its "minimalistic" and easy to read.

It’s been a while since I posted and this thread is long, but I’ll opine and say my preference is the 5712. I prefer the asymmetrical combo of functions & think patek got them right. Also love the movement with the micro rotor. Never really sought out the Nautilus (my first patek was the 1st gen aquanaut) but this one for me was love at first sight. No wait - found it at an AD by chance and picked it up a couple of years ago with a moderate discount the same day. Zero buyers remorse & the price increase is just an added bonus, but no plans to flip. It’s a keeper.

50/50 is very close, a couple of years ago would have been 65/35 to the 11.
