Hunting a 16710

I've been looking at these for years and am finally ready to pull the trigger. This one is a complete set, but I have concerns about the polishing. What do you think? Parts of these lugs look great, others not so much. And these are the best pics I could get. Thanks!

Very interested in this too. I have had my eye on 16710 Cokes for a while, but also worry about them being overly polished. I find it hard to tell.

6:00 lug on the right looks pretty thin to me.

Lugs look blurry to me. Seller's pics or yours? A pathetic example after looking for years.

The angles of the photos don’t really help. All I would say is a lot of the watches from this era will have had a polish at sometime in their life and maybe this would be reflected in the price

What's wrong with a polished watch? From my experience, and I've owned and evaluated many, the few unpolished watches that I have seen the past 25 years are nothing to write home about. Additionally, although many here talk the talk about unpolished watches, most buyers could care less about purchasing an old, neo vintage watch with all the scratches, marks and gouges from many years of wear.

Here’s something for you to compare to OP. A no holes coke I recently bought/sold. I would not buy the set you shared. Way too soft and in this market you have plentiful options and time.
The fact that you’re bringing it up to the forum already shows you have reservations and if this is a long term purchase, you probably don’t want to go into it with these sentiments. Good luck.

It’s been polished a few times, but not badly. What’s the asking? If more than 12K you can do better, just saying.

Good luck hunting! The 16710 is the most versatile piece Rolex has ever made. And certainly one of the very best! Cheers

It all depends on price, if it’s priced under 12k it’s not a bad deal. I wouldn’t pay more for that either. It’s in middle of the road shape imo, not horrible but not great.

I politely disagree to focus on price and would not buy the watch presented by the OP.

There are even unworn 16710 on the market, ok, they are expensive. All depends what someone's priorities are.

Looks like a plastic sticker?

Search for a better 16710.

Yeah, I’m in the same boat. Looking for a 16710 with box & papers, hard to find (at the right price). Especially ones without or minimal polish. Looking for about a year now.

Here are two examples of watches that have been polished but the polishing job is excellent

OP, its deceiving to me because the first photo looks like 3 sharp lugs and one slightly polished at 4-5 o'clock. But the other photos the all look somewhat rounded. So pictures are confusing. I guess the question is, would you be able to return it or see it in person?

These are old watches and all have been polished. As long as you get a good price for the level of polishing it is fine.

If you want a perfect 5 digit you won't find one at a good price, you will have to pay up. So don't search for deals, search for the best one out there. Be prepared to pay.

Good looking watch.

Your concerns about "polishing" are greatly over stated.
