10 year anniversary and watch for wife

Our 10 year anniversary is next week and I'm looking at a watch for my wife. She wears an apple watch majority of the time so this would be for occasional use.

I was thinking explorer I or oyster perpetual, I like the 39mm size on her as she has sported my 14060 in the past and it looks good. DavidSW has a nice assortment of both. I have a difficult time choosing for myself let alone her!

Which does she like. I Personally like the look of the OP more on a woman, but I have no idea what her personality is like. If it will be an occasional wear, you might wasn't something that's a little more dressy.

Both the watches you mentioned are obviously sporty, but I think the OP is a little more refined.

I'd also consider a 36mm DJ with a fluted bezel. My wife loves hers. But most importantly, I'd try to get a better idea of which she'd want before you make a move.

Trying to make it a surprise without it being obiviois why I’m asking her specific questions. That looks good on your wife’s wrist!

Recently spotted a work colleague wearing a TT dj 36 mm with golden dial and diamond markers, it had also fluted bezel. Looked amazing on her

I’d take her to an AD and let her try on pieces and see what she likes. Gives you a great idea what she would like and doesn’t like.
Also it’s a win/win you also get to try on a few watches as well.

I agree. I know you want it to be a surprise, but in my experience, if I bring my wife to a jewelry shop she never holds back telling me what she likes and doesn't like

Otherwise, my vote is for the 39mm OP, or the 36mm DJ if that's a consideration for you.

Happy anniversary btw OP!

I know you want it to be a surprised but I feel it's important to get her something she likes versus something "you" think she likes.
What I would do is walk her into an AD under the assumption you want to see watches for you, and casually just "for kicks" say hey, so what would you like, if you could pick one, or what do you think of this "ugly" watch, but look at this one, this is nice right, I bet you'd wear that at least...or what ever permutation of that idea to get gauge her tastes.

Or Youtube or whatever...
I know the watch I thought my wife would like was not the one she picked when I walked her into an AD to just look around for fun. When I told her ok, we'll take that one she was completely shocked and happy.

Happy anniversary! Good luck ...bought my wife a few over the years, but the last two she spent hours looking at photos and several visits to AD's. Those are the two she wears. Last was a 116231 RG/TT DJ with white diamond dial, fluted bezel and jubilee. She does grab my Subs from time to time and also my 16570, but the DJ is her favorite. It was an anniversary gift as well. While I lost the surprise factor, she ended up with what she wanted.

This is why they need to make a ladies submariner. I remember 30 years ago Heyerdahl made an awesome men’s automatic diver and then a tiny woman’s. Made a great pair. I am sure if Rolex did it would fly out of the stores.

10 year anniversary and watch for wife

Speaking from experience of wanting to make a great surprise gift of a new Rolex, I’ve always been surprised at my wife’s choices and what she’d pick vs what I thought she would pick.

My AD gave me the best advice this time around - I can buy whichever watch I “think” she’ll love and leave the warranty card with them not filled out (in case) knowing that SHE can now come with me back to the AD and either get it sized and pick up the warranty card and insurance appraisal docs OR pick out what she loves.

And yep - she loved it. Not the watch I chose - but the idea and the surprise gift. She walked out with her dream choice: the Yacht-Master in Everose and Chocolate.

It was a fine evening - the steaks were perfect and the stars were bright on this 15th-Anniversary.

Funny, my 10 year wedding anniversary is this year. Thanks for starting this thread OP. I’m also considering the DJ and OP. I am leaning towards the DJ31 with fluted bezel, silver dial and jubilee. However, my wife is 5’10. I’m wondering if the 36mm is a better choice.

1. something with rose gold
2. something with diamonds (dial or bezel)
3. Or both 1 & 2 combined

I brought my wife to our local AD a week ago and we both picked the DJ 31mm with Pink Diamond dial with white gold fluted bezel.

Looking at stock photos do no justice to Rolex timepieces, you really have to try it for yourself. I was surprised myself that we both actually liked the fluted bezel on the DJ!

So I would say best to let your wife try on several pieces until she can zoom in on a particular piece she really likes.

Buying from AD is your best option, my ad left the stickers on and held onto the blank warranty card, to let me surprise the wife. If she wanted a different model, just bring it in to trade it out. My got my wife a black dial SS 36mm fluted on jubilee. She was surprised and happy but we end up going to the AD two days later, she picked up the all gold day date LOL, saw the price and put it back, we settled on a DJ36 TT fluted jubilee silver diamond dial. Weekend wearer also

The 39mm EXP I sure looks grand on a lady, small watches seem to not be the trend.

Depending on her whist size... DJ 36 or 41 (41 is only 39mm diameter so women can wear it, too!). I think SS with a fluted bezel looks very nice and hits the taste of the majority (vs TT)
