1675 GMT question - please help

Will any 20mm oyster bracelet fit the 1675 GMT?

More specifically, an oyster-lock ref#93253 for a submariner with SELs?

Thanks

No, sorry it wont.
If I'm not wrong a 93253 is a TT bracelet - why do you want to fit a SS/Gold bracelet to a SS watch? Just curious.
Regards - Neil.

Mine is a two tone - prior to the 16750, 16753, 16758 designation, they were all 1675. Mine is a two-tone that was recently restored by the RSC in Bev. Hills.

Are you sure it won't fit? Can you explain why not?

ANyone else please feel free to chime in.

First of all, that is a fabulous vintage Root Beer GMT. I am in current negotiations for one myself, but a much newer vintage:

Notice that it comes with an Oyster bracelet. I'm believe this bracelet would fit an earlier model of the GMT, such as the one in your photo. Good luck!!

Thanks - I really dig it - glad to see others that appreciate them also. I'm a little more partial to the all brown dial, but that watch defintiely looks nice! The hour hand might be missign something though!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

I guess the general question is:

Will the newer oysters bracelets with SELs (the one i am looking at is a 2005 - an oyster-lock ref#93253 for a submariner with SEL) fit the older model 1675 cases.

I would hate to buy it and then find out it won't fit the case.

My jubilee TT bracelet is from the 1980's when it was replaced and it fits fine, so if someone has tried the newer SEL bracelets on a 1980's GMT, that would be good information for me to know also.

Thanks again for the help.

No, its just the light playing tricks in the photo. But this is NOT a photo of the one I am attempting to purchase anyway - it is merely one like it.

Best of luck regarding your question.

It wont fit because the SEL's bracelet need to fit into a 'rebate' on the underside (rear) of the Oyster case (like the bracelet sits flush with the case), whereas your GMT's bracelet is held on with two 'lugs' which sit on top of the lugs.

So strange - I love the Gold/Bronze GMT,so much so I actually picked up a modern 16713 Gold/Bronze today! Pics to follow sometime........
Probably best to seek out an Oyster 78363 or similar.
Good luck - Neil

Yup, gmt 16750 is correct. The SELS have a groove on the inward-facing surfaces, and the rebate (it's like a rail) on the case between the lugs slides into that groove to keep it from moving about. If you put an SEL end-link on a non-SEL case, it's just going to pivot about on the springbar.

I can't wait to see the photos. As mentioned elsewhere, I am currently working on obtaining one myself. Congratulations on acquiring a beautiful Rolex!!!

AH - i understand now - thanks a bunch for all the help everyone (especially Neil for taking the time to explain it). I'll have to keep my eyes open for the other type of band (78363). ANyone have one they want to part with? I'm not allowed to post a WTB yet! lol!

Awesome Neil - looking forward to the pics too. Does it have the brown bezel or the two-tone? I'm really excited that there a number of Brown/Bronze/Rootbeer dial lovers in this forum.

Yeehaaaaaaa

BV that is a stunning example you have! Big congrats!!
Personally I would stay with the bracelet you have. Your watch has a "nipple dial". I'm not sure I've seen a nipple dial watch with anything other than the jubilee.

Well done!

Thanks!!

Thats an interesting observation about the jubille and "nipple dial". I really like the jubilee and wasn't planning on abandoning it, but rather was contemplating picking up an oyster so I could switch around occasionally depending on the mood. However, maybe I'll save that money and put it towards Rolex #2!!!!!!!!!!!

However, just curious about a couple more things....

Does anyone know what year the 78363 switched from 14K to 18K and what are the 18K appropriate endlink numbers?

Also, what is the 18K/SS TT Sub bracelet ref number prior to the SEL bracelet and what are the appropriate endlink numbers?

Sorry for all the questions, but I have a thirst for knowledge right now!

Thanks again to all those who are hepling with the info.

Thanks guys!, it is the very same in appearance to the fine one posted by Prince in the above pic but it has Luminova as opposed to the Trituim above and mine has a SEL Oysterlock bracelet.
Yeah, the bronze GMT seems to be gaining a few followers - us typical watch 'lovers' seem to go for a model once it's been discontinued - go figure

No expert on Gold, but I thought I read the switch occured when the 16753 came out with the 3xxx movement circa 1977. End links might be 450 or 458.

My DH has an oyster bracelet. I think it's the oyster-lock. He replaced the jubilee that came with his GMT because it wasn't really his style and the clasp kept opening up.

Rootbeer Club

Well - there seem to be a number of people who appreciate the Rootbeer GMT, and since everyone else has theie "club" signatures, I decided to make up one for the Rootbeer GMT - of course, feel free to use it!!!!! I didn't create it for myself but the rest!

I used my picture and the one Prince posted (hope thats ok).

He had the watch polished and a new acrylic crystal put in. I want to get him a new bezel insert too.

I don't know if it's proper for me to be a member of the RootBeer club since it's my DHs watch and not mine. LOL Nice job combining the pics!

I keep wondering, is there a YM club?
