Rolex Explorer 1016 "Frogfoot"
Hi all,
Was hoping somebody could share their knowledge with me. Does anybody know during which era the "frog foot" coronet was introduced to 1016 Explorer dials? I always assumed these to be re-dials as they don't really look like the classic Rolex logo, but having seen so many images of 1016s with this particular coronet style, I now realise these are genuine. Am I correct? Are these 60s or 70s? Also, if an Explorer has this style of coronet applied to the dial, should one expect to find the same coronet style applied to the bracelet, crown etc?? Many thanks |

I may be mistaken, but I've only heard of the "Freccione" referred to the 1655 Explorer II...

Freccione--large arrow in Italian--refers to the 24 hour hand on the reference 1655. Some of those Explorer II's may also have the frog foot coronet, which the OP is asking about in connection with the 1016 Explorer.

Hi guys,
Thanks for the responses. Yeah I'd read that article already, perhaps a good indicator in terms of dates. Was hoping somebody knew something a little more specific to the 1016 model? Cheers |

Bumping this up in hopes someone can shed light on the history of the frog foot. Thanks
