Do you consider this a dress or sport watch?

Just curious if you feel this JLC Geophysic 1958 is a sport or dress watch? It is a piece that offers 100m water resistance, new ceramic bearings, state of the art shock resistance, etc. So in almost every way it feels very Explorer-like.

Thoughts?

I wouldn’t call it a dress watch but think it can be dressed up. I also wouldn’t call it a sports watch , but on a NATO it could have a sporty look to it .

It does exhibit traits of dressy & sport. Very versatile actually. Minus the sportier strap, I'd call it closer to dress than anything else. Beautiful btw!

Love that watch! Contemplated it many times. I’d say you’re correct it straddles the line.

I like it! It’s a not a “Dress” watch, but with a different strap would work well with a suit. Not a pure sports watch, just a good all around watch.

Something in-between, you can dress that up or down depending on strap.

Both

On a brown strap, casual

On a black strap, dressy

If this was a sports watch a Patek 3417 would be too?

I'd even consider my IWC Mark XV Pilot a sporty dress watch rather than a sports watch when on the leather strap...

That’s a fantastic looking watch and I agree with others who say it’s both

I’ve always loved that piece. It’s very versatile. I don’t think it fits into either category dress/sport fully. It’s a slider. Dress it up or down. It will look great.

Thanks for the comment everyone. I've owned the watch for about 6 months now and can't sat enough good things about it. It just seems right at home in almost every situation and that's important to me in a watch. I think it could be my "one watch for life" if the unthinkable happened and I had to part ways with the collection.

A daily watch that can be dressed up or down with the strap combination.
