I bought mine for tax off but mainly because I was out of town on a trip.

Best deal is to get it from a trusted seller, but anything tax or more from an AD and you're doing pretty good.

While I love the guys (sellers), most aren't offering 15% off the $9,050 retail BNIB so this seems odd.

Waste of effort on a SS ROLEX Submariner.

On these references, the full price..is the fair price.

Why a dealer would discount a such prime mover is ridiculous, unless they are an AD in the middle of the sticks...

That's a pretty fair discount, IMO.

I shouldn't have said anything as that deal is only for me. Small town AD where I have spent $50k + over the last 4-5 years.

I'm curious, given the better discount from your AD, why you'd buy from one of the sellers unless a trade was involved? Just perplexed why someone would want to pay more.

Maybe you missed where I said I bought a used one vs new. Still cheaper.

Agreed. It is good you clarified the circumstances...

Posts that boast "I get 15% off on all my Rolex SS watches"! without communicating the specifics of why, really aren't very helpful..

Mainly because the newbie will go to an AD cold off the street and have an expectation of discounting that just isn't realistic. Then they will be denied these rather outlandish terms and get frustrated. Then they will come here and complain about the AD. It's a vicious cycle.

Generally I always get quoted by AD's "We don't generally discount Rolex professional models" and you have to do a bit of a dance to get anything. So I'd say 10% from an AD for BNIB with no worries is a fine deal for a desirable Sub LV. Some might say hold out for 15%, but I think those deals are rare. Good luck. Cheers!

Thanks for the input guys. I've been eyeing the LV for a while. Good to know the AD's offer was pretty good. Makes this a much easier decision.

You would be a mug to pay retail in the US, I was obviously joking about 15% as the OP was almost complaining of 10% when in the UK you won't get a penny off.

What do you guys think?
That's a great deal on the hulk. Counter with 15% (because why not) and try to settle on 12 (closer to their's than yours) but take 10 if it comes down to it. Cash will help with the negotiation. Either way 10% off a hulk is a near-steal. That's a fairly hot model and will be worth a fortune one day.

I know you love to hop on the threads about discounts but the bottom line is paying retail should be avoided if possible. Sure, it's fair to say that you may well have to pay full retail if you are, as you say "cold off the street" but if you don't ask about a discount you ain't likely getting one so really asking never hurts. No shame in negotiating a bit.

Was trying on a Hulk yesterday and really liked it. If they'd have offered it to me at 10% I'd have probably walked out with it. Going back this week to compare to an 114060 so we'll see how that goes...they seem unwilling to give any discount based on past asks so I'll probably go elsewhere. Know a dealer who'll do 10-15% I think, just a bit of a drive.

So, the best the AD can do is still 10% off MSRP and they eat the sales tax.
Think I'll go through with it this weekend. To say I'm excited is an understatement.

I was offered 5% without asking from my AD, but I could probably push them for a little more. I've purchased two other watches from them previously.

Ive been to a few AD's in my area and they all acted like they were doing me a huge favor by having them available to sell and I should be thankful they would sell me one at MSRP.

I think 10 is doable for a repeat customer and probably even a newbie if they are smooth
