I tend to be a cynical kind so I also find the whole thing slightly strange, but hey, it's not the Gestapo - we can't make you publish anything, even though for anyone who lost a Rolex watch, publishing hotel details along with the serial number and proof of ownership on the Rolex forum would in theory, with whatever small chance you may have, help to spread the word and raise the awareness of the stolen piece. Informing Rolex of the same will also be the next logical step - that Daytona will come back for Rolex service or repairs at some point and they check every piece they receive against their database of reported stolen watches 100%.

What I hope this story is NOT through, is a way into building a fictitious profile of a future Dayton buyer with the intention to then try to scam the forum sellers out of their watches, using this as a background story etc. Just a thought...

There was no harm meant. I was simply bemused by your post since you said one thing and then seemed to do the exact opposite. Strange and confusing, like a parent talking in a patronizing way to a group of children and telling them not to bully each other and then singling out a group of kids and starting to bully them.

Anyway, your style of communication is your style. It is just not my style.

With respect, or disrespect if you like, to this whole train wreck of a story, I believe that at this stage any person with a functioning brain should be able to see through the OP's lies. He has had plenty of time to set the story straight.

Truly gutted for you, hope you get some good luck in the future to compensate.

What were the other two attempts?

Jay, I'm sorry for the trauma and loss of your beloved Daytona. Glad you weren't physically harmed, but knowing someone crept through your room while you slept must be very unsettling. I'm sure many older hotels in Europe have standard key locks and no CCTV. It took a while to read this thread, and I'm amazed about the conspiracy theories that ensued, but I believe you. Again I'm sorry for your loss and perhaps there's a chance your Daytona can be recovered. Good luck and take care.

That's incredibly shocking ... and scary. Very sorry to hear about your watch, but I'm glad you didn't wake up and weren't injured or killed. That's a very bold thief.

[Edit: Sorry, I obviously didn't read the whole thread before posting this, or I would have just stayed out of it.]

I read it all, just seems some folks piled on much too heavy. Not everyone wants to disclose personal specific information about a traumatic event to the world. It's a private matter under investigation. I can understand not releasing copies of police reports, serial number, photos and location. The OP was just looking for some support at his time of loss. I've seen other robbery threads where such info wasn't demanded from the OP. Not our business in this puplic setting. That's my thoughts.

I am so sorry for your lost! What kind of Daytona was it? I really hope you will get a bonus, a raise or money unexpectedly to buy a even better, newer, nicer watch!

Thank you for sharing this! It will hopefully wake us up to lock the door!
Btw, I was in Europe recently and felt very vert save in Vienna. It's a very nice, clean and beautiful but it looks like a "canalization with dirt and sh**" flows under every city :(

I am glad that they didn't steel your wallet or WG bracelet and, most importantly, they didn't hurt or harm you at all!!!!

This thread is exemplary that when it comes to human beings, that we should not lose faith in them, that compassion and empathy still exists.

Unfortunately, it is also examplary that there are folks that will believe anything they read.

Tell me where it is, I would be delighted to "help" him. His name and address would be very useful too, so I can deliver his "help" in person.

This thread is so much fun to read; it's popcorn-worthy.

But where's JayBlack (OP)? Why the sudden disappearance? I predict he will reappear under a new alias.

I predict that the new alias will have a Daytona and "had two occasions that ppl tried to steal it but I managed to avoid it and save my beloved."

When you post, are you even aware of your previous posts? Are you not *not* minding your own business? Aren’t you yourself being hypocritical? Incredible.

Ok, mea culpa. My point is that the OP should get whatever it is he deserves. If I have been overly harsh, then my sincere apologies are offered.

You are not harsh, you called an obvious lie elaborated by a troll for which we have no idea what the motive is.

Many thanks, amigo.

I am sure the admins here will resolve this in a fair manner.

The motive is most likely to gain from other people's sympathy. I hope no one has already been scammed.

Anyone looking to buy a Daytona? I picked one up recently in Vienna, it was a real steal.
