Datejust 16030 question ..
Hi all,
My parents gave me this datejust in the late 80s as I was starting university. I wore it pretty much the whole time until 2014 when I bought a submariner. Since then, it’s been less frequent. But, it’s still a very special watch for me. The jubilee bracelet has a fair bit of stretch now and is probably due for replacement. I was wondering whether I might replace with an oyster for a less bling or alternative look. Does anyone have photos of a similar watch with oyster? It’s hard to imagine how the tapestry dial etc would look with the oyster vs jubilee. Even if you don’t have photos, I’d appreciate your opinion! Many thanks all. |

Just send the bracelet to Rolliworks in Ca to have them repair your jubilee. They repair the stretch. They did mine and I am very happy with it

Here is my 16014 with a 78360. I will second the notion to have your original Jubilee restored by either Rolliworks or Michael Young. Best of Luck!!

Here to also support the notion of repairing the original jubilee. I feel datejusts are meant to be with jubilees, I feel like the oyster links are too bulky for the datejusts.

Thanks very much for the input. Appreciate the help. The photo above and YouTube illustrate well.
I would definitely like to get the bracelet restored either way, but wouldn’t really want to send internationally to the US or HK for fear of loss. Once again, thanks. |

Hi Rob,
Your watch seems to be in a very good state, seems unpolished. Did you ever have it serviced since you got it? I actually doubt the stretch, can you post pictures. You might think it has stretch, but the pic doesn’t look like it. Regards from Munich Torsten |

Yeah, it looks super! And I’d say, your stretch is really nothing and you’re years away from having a bracelet repair needed!! One can see that you have taken really good care of it and even 35 years of wearing did not cause a disturbing amount of stretch, once you clean it regularly.... Keep holding on to this beauty... Not trying to sway you either way, but I sent my Jubilee (picture was from when my Jubilee was being restored) to Michael Young. I insured it and had signature acceptance with FedEx. It was delivered without fault; and the communication was impeccable. This was before Rolliworks was around. I wouldn’t hesitate doing it again!! Best of luck!!
