I'm Miffed

Hey all:

Some of you may recall that I, excitedly, purchased a White Face Explorer on E-bay 3-4 weeks ago. I was not happy with it at all as I thought it was very misrepresented. It was described as having a polished and brushed finish on the case, light scratching on the bezel, beautifully serviced and timed using the finest of oils, etc. Here it is again. If you look at the left side of the case there are major dents in the upper and lower lugs that can be seen in the photo but look much worse up close and personal. If you look at the eighth picture down you will see the dents.

It chaps my to no end to see it being sold again to some other poor unsuspecting person who will be thinking they are getting a LNIB when that is anything but the truth. The other thing that is hilarious is that the box came broken apart at the hinge. Now it is listed as the box has wear to the hinge.

So henceforth Connoisseur of Time should be listed in the Watch Out section.

I mean thats the chance you take right. I would stick to timezone or here in order to avoid most of the nonsense.

I don't think that Terry was taking a chance at all. Look at the seller's feedback.

Based on the pictures, the watch should look quite good but isn't. I also find it almost funny how the seller hides the broken hinge on the box by placing the polishing cloth there. What a jerk!

Also, TZ has become a haven for clueless sellers. Many ads that are listed as 90% or better are contradicted by the sellers' own pictures! http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=35003

I've been a victim of pretty loose representation more than a few times from supposedly reputable TZ sellers.

Giving negative feedback on eBay only incurs the wrath of the other party. In this case, the seller has such stellar feedback that most buyers will ignore Terry.

Sad.

Agreed. BTW, what a coimplete @$$wipe the seller is, huh? With that feedback and those pics, I would have felt safe buying it.

Man, that's rough. Glad you got your money back, but someone else is definitely about to get screwed. Hopefully they'll return it too and the seller will get the point. It's one of the reason's I'm glad I found this place, cause I can find legitimate places to find quality used stuff. EBAY, who i've bought and sold through has bitten me more than once.

This watch sold last night on e-bay. I paid $3,350 for it and it just sold the second time around, or more, for $3,200. I immediately e-mailed the winner of the auction and warned him of the issues I had with it. Maybe he'll decide he likes it and keeps it. I have no regrets returning it. I got a much better deal from a fellow TRF'r here.

I hate seeing people get ripped off.
