Another Daytona - fake or not

I would be grateful if you would please take alook at the above Daytona and tell me what you think.
Sorry but I can't provide the link, because I don't know how
but the number is 250226681924
Though I can give you some more details:
1) Its based in London
2) The Current bid is £4,500
3) It doesn't say if it S/S or WG but comes with the black dial that is only supposed to be fitted the W/G
4) The seller is a bit vague about the paperwork & its been "pulled" several times.
I have emailed the seller asking if its a S/S or W/G model.
You thoughts are most welcome.

Having re read the item, I have now seen the model no. so I think that its the W/G model.
Must get my eyes tested

I don't see anything overtly wrong with it, but I would be wary. Poor spelling and lack of pictures is not the proper way to sell a 4-5 figure watch. However, I would do it if the owener would be willing to meet at an AD for verification!

It doesn't look right -
1. the boxes shown are different - one is old style box (with wood grain) in the main pic with the watch face, the other is a new style box (with white cloth) in the pic showing the band.
2. the band looks 2-tone in one pic and wg/ss in another.
3. the set/reset buttons of the chronograph look different across the pictures.
Highly likely the guy pulled different pictures out of the Internet.
If you bid, make sure the seller agrees to meet and get the piece authenticate at RSC before money changes hands.

Topcat, to post a link, just click on the address bar at the top (where you type www.something to go to a website). After you clicked on it, hold ctrl and press c to copy it. Then, come here to post, and hold ctrl and press v to paste it. It should show up as a clickable link as the software will recognize it.

I would be very careful of making this kind of purchase with a person who has five feedbacks. Even if the watch is legit, you have an inexperienced seller. There are only two of his five items to view and they were minor transactions. As has been noted, this is potentially a five figure sale.

I look at eBay UK a lot and it seems to me that it has become infested with idiots selling fakes. I reckon half on there at the moment are at the very least, highly suspicious.
I like eBay a lot but i'd be very careful spending that sort of money. Having said that there are private sellers on there who are genuine people selling genuine Rolexes.
Sad really.
Regards John.

it should be a wg daytona but it is a fake. the cg's are too thick, the left chrono isn't zero'ed and the chrono isn't running. he is using pictures of 2 different watches and boxes. he also unscrewed the chrono pushers because on a fake they are too long when screwed down tight and the lume in the 3-6-9 markers is way too big. it is 2 times the size of a genuine daytona. run away!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think the Chronos should be centered. Look how perfectly centered the left one is to the 9 o'clock position. Here is one that is certainly real to compare.

i understand that but the chrono function isn't running on the first one., everything except the seconds at 6 should be centered. look at the lume markers at 3-6-9, crown and crown guards, not to mention the dial being shiny black instead of flat black. check against the gen link you posted.

Brandon, Thankyou for the info,I shall do it the next time that I have to copy a link.
Marcus, Thankyou for your thoughts, it certainly helped me to confirm my own views.
By the way I did further email the seller, with some other questions, even included a mobile number, but its NO surprise, but I haven't heard anything back from them

It's funny how a 24K watch went for a little over 9k US dollars.

Wow; We should be standing in line to get several of these.

I'd pay 9000 yen for it, not 9000 USD!

I am the winner of this auction !

I just won this auction and thought I check up on the forum, couldn't beleive there was already a thread on it.

I recently bought a sub date from ebay, everything checked out, met the seller at an AD and then had the glass replaced at Rolex UK.

Anyway the point is that I thought I was onto another bargain here and bid on this watch. Since winning the seller has asked for payment. I have refused stating that I want ot meet in person at Rolex UK to have watch verified first. .. since then no reply, I will give it another week and then be reporting the seller to ebay..

I guess if it sounds too good to be true .. .. ..

BUY THE SELLER, NOT THE WATCH...

I'd say the photos are real, but I doubt the seller even has the watch, it appears she has bought a hat and a pair of shoes, sold some software and an exerciser, ALL CHEAP.

The only way this tart has a genuine Rolex is that Spitzer gave it to her or she lifted it.

DON'T BUY

Garry, officially you cannot ask for verification at Rolex after the sale has ended. Make sure this condition is stated and agreed upon before you bid.

Probably true after you bid. But if I sold a watch on ebay, I'd be glad to have it authenticated.

+1 It protects the seller as well. My biggest fear if I sold a Rolex on ebay would be that the buyer would go out and buy an identical fake, then sue me!

Hi Garry
Saw your post, have you had any reply back yet?
I never did hear back from the seller.
It seems that you might of had a lucky escape.
