Glued on bezel insert?
Trying to get the bezel insert off my mk1 1675. Tried to pop it off from behind with two thumbs like every tutorial states on the internet. Is it possible that it's glued on or are my thumbs just too fat for the job?

Sometimes it takes more than your thumbs. I've had that same problem in the past.

I had a similar problem with my 16750. What ended up working for me was to hold the bezel vertically on a cloth covered table and then push with my thumbs to pop out the insert. The leverage against the table did the trick for me.

LOL got if off, now I can't get the new one on. Fucking #vintage problems. Might have to take it to a pro before I scratch my new minty fuschia insert.

Most 'pros' I've seen doing it - including a RSC technician in Bexley, Kent - use their thumbs. They won't guarantee an incident-free procedure, either. There's an inherent [ultra-miniscule] degree of risk, whoever does it. Try pressing it against the top edge/corner of a table, with a cloth between. Should snap in. Or just snap. Kidding

BTW - I find this heavy-guage pick works a treat to ease an insert out of a bezel ring, from behind (ooh, err missus).

When did you swap the crystal on your red and what did you use? ABC put a modified Sea Dweller crystal on mine and I love it. Looks great! |

Hi Justin - thanks, I had it done by my watchmaker, in Nov 2014. It's a "T-39"

Popped by Michael Young's to get it done right. Cat approves. J/k she doesn't care.
