Who else has to set their watch precisely on the minute marker?

I guess I'm OCD and a perfectionist. I have to hack my watch with the second hand at twelve and the minute hand precisely on the minute marker. I find it easier to place the minute hand precisely in the middle of one of the round 5 minute markers. Then start the watch exactly when it reaches that time using atomic time on the computer. Who else has this OCD condition and do I ever want to be cured of it?

I do that too. I assume a lot of us here have that particular strain of OCD.

Man, I thought I was the only one.

In my case I just go by my iPhone to set the time on my watches

Count me in. Been doing it ever since the days when you could dial up the time signal on the telephone!

I thought everyone did this?

Yeah I definitely do this. When I get a new watch I also track the time every day to see if it gains or loses time, and I also record the time the date changes (I do both at the same time.) for about 2 weeks and then I move on (to a new watch )

Don't you just hate seeing a photo of a watch with the second had at 12 and the minute hand half way between markers?

Totally do this! Nothing worse than being between minutes when the second hand strikes 12

Just reminded me to check and reset mine. Losing less than 2 seconds/day.

I too precisely line up hands and markers, plus I set my Rolex at least once a week using "The Official NIST Time". That allows me to be very exact.

This thread would be a lot shorter if you asked (who does not do this). I didn't know there was any other way to set a Rolex.

I know what you mean. I have an IWC Flieger (Spitfire) that takes me 15 minutes sometimes to set. I have to move the minute hand about 1/3 of the way past the minute marker because it pops the minute hand back a little when the crown is pushed in. Even gently pushed in.

Why shouldn't anybody set the correct time on his watch?

I did not think that this could happen with a mechanical watch

If you're going to set the time might as well set it correctly.
