I just bask in the 5522's radiant glow in a state of nirvana. Louis is the prophet.

i think the stranger part of the auction was still the amount of current production pieces, the reputation of the auction company is secondary.

Do collectors really bid on aquanauts and world timers instead of buying them from their AD? I honestly have no idea, maybe they do?

Ichiran. I personally think you might be right. As someone in this thread mentioned TS would like to bring this to the younger generations, I believe he will not stop production of this model. Maybe just a little change.
There are many comparisons but overall, I think the 5524 is in a different class.
Just look at the photos posted of the 5524 on this forum. They are beautiful in all angles or lightings and even more so when seen live.

I agree with you that Patek will not stop production of this watch. The 5522might be released with a different dial for the Asian exhibition, although I personally like the New York variant with the blue lacquer dial

The 5522 can not be recreated. Now it enters history as one of the few steel Calatrava pieces; surely it will increase in value with a small number of only 600 examples.

Looks like someone banned you for this false statement. Can't say I am surprised. Honesty is the best policy.

The 5522 should be nicknamed the "widowmaker". The body count continues to pile up almost a year after!

i totally agree. imo the price will go nowhere but up. as always there will be a small drop because the first used ones hit the marked etc but once they make their way to the collectors after couple years the prices will increase significantly.

because of the location. also on the 5960 they look more balanced because of the crown. always my opinion of course.

i was referring to them just in comparison to each other. those two isolated next to each other. in this case they are very different. both caused a lot of buzz, both polarized, both have many lovers and haters.

Has anybody on this forum bought a 5522 for more than retail price? There are a bunch for sale but who is buying them besides resellers?

I have been secretly hoping we’d get there. With Antiquorium I was thinking that was the opening but it did not deliver.

I don’t think many members would willing admit to paying $20k+ over MSRP, but I’d love to be proven wrong...

Have you seen how much grief the guy with the brand-new white gold sub with the crown that fell off is getting for buying at MSRP? If any if us were to fess up about paying over retail a mob would probably attack.
