I’m buying another Rolex, have I chosen the right one (grey)

I posted on here about buying the new white gold sub back last year, didn’t do it and went down an ap route. Long story short I’ve got a couple of aps I’ve traded in and one sent back but I need to swap for something.

I’ve gone for the blue white gold sub for £39000.

Bearing in mind I have an lv, ym40 flex and an air king, am I doing the right thing? At this stage I could get a Pepsi jubilee and Batman for the same money, would that make a better collection?

I kind of have to swap the whole amount due to the complexities of the deal.

If it were me, I’d sell the AK, YM and LV and add the 619 and the blro

This is a great and much rarer model to add to the collection. I dig it.

I'd buy that from an AD for MSRP and sell what you need to. Cheaper, brand new and no concerns about authenticity. Two UK ADs told me it's available in reasonable time frame, just not 'now'.

Greys don't seem to sweeten deals that much for trades. £7K over retail? And your three total over £60K. I think you can do better really.

I went gray on the WG sub two months ago. Paid a premium, but compared to MSRP + Tax it wasn’t too bad at least in my opinion. It’s a cool piece.

Looks pretty OK to me !

Considering the other option : two 5s is not a 10.

If you're paying that price, get Yellow Gold man

No, just what it brings to a collection of anyone happened to have one. I wonder if I’ll be so worried about scratching it would I wear it enough to invest that money.

Just asking for a bit of first hand experience, I’ve got oysterflex and it holds up well but I’ve never owned a full pm

I’m just not a yellow gold guy, if it was a rose gold sub with blue dial I wouldn’t even be asking!

OK I see.

Polished gold Oyster centre links do readily show scratches but I think you're a bit better with white gold than yellow.

I'm with parapraxis and I'd go for yellow (126618ln). Accepting that it's a scratch magnet and also a loud display of wealth, it would be a very occasional wearer.

I'd try to keep the LV but the LB could be a regular wear piece.

I think you'll be just fine. I'm dailying my WG BLRO (been 2 weeks straight) and it probably scratches the same as my YM oyster bracelet. All minor and not noticeable. The weight is such a difference and I used to prefer my BLNR on Jubilee as a daily but not any more.

Is that what you want in your collection? Only you can answer your question.

I know, I suppose I’m looking for affirmation! I do love it, I just wonder whether I should add a gmt for a bit of variety. A Pepsi white gold blue dial is also an option, I just can’t get my head around it looking so similar to the steel.

For a touch more cash I could get the same as you! I just worry that it looks so similar to the steel. Does the blue dial match the bezel? I’ve never seen in person

I was going to say that the similarity was why I went with the WG and the blue face. It is just a touch different which I love. The blue on dial is close to the blue on bezel only in certain light. It's quite dynamic actually. Today in the bright sun it's a matte khaki blue and the bezel was almost purple.

So you'd be trading the LV, the YM, and the AK for the WG Sub plus 18k? That doesn't sound too bad, if you're itching for a change and have another SS Rolex in the stable. I prefer the WG Sub to the WG BLRO (in either black or blue dial), and also the BLNR/BLRO combo

No it’s a bit more complicated than that! Keeping my Three Rolex, I’m actually returning two aps that I didn’t get on with and kept bad time, but I have to exchange not refund. Want some cash back, so its either the sub or two steel GMT’s. Or even a white gold Pepsi! Based on what he has in stock.

Ah, sorry for the confusion. If you're set on an exchange, and the options are WG Sub, WG BLRO, or the SS BLNR/BLRO combo, I'd go with the WG Sub. Perhaps the dealer has a Patek collection that may have some potential.

Glidelock does it for me, especially with a heavy PM piece.

I do love the look of the blue dial WG Pepsi but GL clasp and 41mm size wins for me over that dial.

I have to say that’s what puts me off the gmt, I’ve never had or worn one that I can get just right. Especially on holiday in heat. Never understood the easy link, always seems too much jump. The one on my 126655 is brilliant and not in a massive clasp, should be in every Rolex.
