Close lug holes via laser welding

Hi all,
recently I have been gravitating towards Panerai more and more. I like most the Radiomir wire lug models as I prefer the classic screw down crowns. Now there are some other very beautiful Radiomir 1940 models, especially the white dial 655. It is a very particular thing, but I do not like at all visible lug holes.
Has anyone tried to close them via laser welding and received a satisfying result? The brand of the watch is not even of importance. Obviously such a change would come with a different spring bar to be used as well and some change to the strap to be able to grab the spring mechanism for changes.
Thanks all
