Seiko, Citizen, and Pulsar Solar Watches

While I love my Rolex watches, I have darted off course a little, the Seiko and Pulsar Solar, along with the Citizen Eco Drive watches have caught my eye lately. I have an older Citizen moon phase eco drive that is about 15 years old, it kind of got lost in the shuffle, but that started my interest again. I know these are not Rolex or any other luxury watch, but they are different and it seems as though the overall quality is pretty good, plus they are not expensive.

I will add more photos when I get home, but here is the Pulsar Chrono and the Citizen Rose Gold on leather Eco Drive, the rose gold is not as rose as I have seen, I added a deployment buckle in gold and it looks fine, and lastly the first one I bought to get started a Seiko Recraft auto. The Pulsar was $118 at Sears and the Citizen was $210 at Boscovs., the Seiko Recraft was around $240

This year already I have bought a new Grand Seiko, and a vintage King Seiko, Seiko Lord Marvel and Seiko Weekdater full set, and got as much pleasure from hunting down and receiving each of them as much as any of my Rolex or Tudor watches.

I know the feeling for sure. I still like Rolex but hunting down harder to find and vintage is fun too

I have a $80,000 collection of vintage mechanical watches, but I also love solar watches. I love knowing that it is powered by the sun, and will (should) last decades without intrusion.

I really wish there was a high end solar offering. I love my solars but they are all finished cheaply. Gap in the market I reckon!

And please Citizen stop calling your watches “eco-drive” ... I don’t own any of them because I can’t get over the name

The Seiko and Citizen lineup in the solar area are less quality compared to a Rolex, AP, PP, etc, but they are also a lot cheaper, overall they seem to be a good value. and yea Citizen should go to just Solar for a name.

Been thinking about the Seiko solar Pepsi for awhile. Maybe it's time.

The Eco-Drive is really a great watch. I can honestly say it's probably the most reliable watch. I rarely see them in my shop. And when I do, they only need a recharge and reset, and then I never see them again. I own a 300M diver with ceramic bezel. It's been running nonstop for about 10 years I think now. Just great.

I almost forgot that I have this one.

It was a gift from a group of friends, but I don't wear it often as I should.

Anyone here have one of these?

I’ve never bought a watch without seeing it in the flesh, but this one may be my first.

Very nice watches guys! Keep them coming! I am getting the Radio Controlled Aviator SSG001 tomorrow, paid $270 for a $750 watch at Macy's, it is not on Seiko's website anymore, maybe it was discontinued, will post pics tomorrow.

I wear this Citizen Eco Drive H610 in titanium almost daily. Very comfortable and functional with chrono, date, and city indication for easy adjustment when traveling. The only gripe with the design is the crown position and dimension. Since it is wider than the case thickness, it easily snaps onto clothes and can accidentally pop open (or worse break. Which has not occurred but I can see how it could happen).

I grabbed this JDM SBDJ013 last year and love it. Feather light titanium, great fit and finish for the price.

The left Dial with the H N Y and L is the seconds hand, the letters are for the Radio Syncing feature, H is High and L low signal strength, the Y is yes and n no when you just hit the pusher to see if it has sync'd lately

These are my Citizen. Hardly wear them, but I keep them around as good memories. The Combo was my first watch as a kid and I keep trying to bring it back to life but I've already been screwed twice at Citizen repair shops. The automatic is a nice example from the 70s and works great but I don't wear it. The Nighthawk I bought in a BA flight many years ago so I keep as a souvenir. I'd like to add the Timex Ironman because I wear this one every week when I run, workout or play tennis. This is a great member in the collection.

Nope. In Rio. Last time I spent 100 bucks usd, it came home working good but it's dead now. TBH I don't want to waste my time with it anymore. Maybe I change my mind in the future but for now I'll let it rest in peace.

ps. last time, the guy warned me it could have future problems, so I need to take back the part I said I got screwed.
