datejust 1630

Good morning -

I have been looking at a DJ 1630 and came across the one below. My question is regarding the dial. Most of the ones that I've found have "T Swiss T" at the 6 o'clock position. This one has "Swiss Made" on the dial as shown. Is this a replacement dial? Is it concerning? The photos were taken from the seller's site.

Thanks in advance
JT

These are marked in the outer ring T Swiss T usually and this one is too. What's unusual is the inner dial is marked swiss made when it's usually blank.

Not an expert on these but I suspect it's a champagne service inner dial post of era 2001.

Had a look on C24 and as you say most are T Swiss T as you'd expect.

There is one swiss only dial that would probably be a 99/00 service dial.

If legit, I also suspect like the 16600 Sea Dweller that all/most of the 'Swiss' service dials are exhausted now and Swiss Made now fitted at many service centres.

Traded my 1630 a few months ago.
Since the 1530/1630’s were only made for a few years using the 1570 non-quick movement I would expect the dials to be consistent with the others you see in either silver or champagne.
1570 movements are typically pie pan in 36mm watch size and have different dial feet positions from 3035 dials.
The 1530/1630 dials are the exception to the pie pan dial using the 1570 movement.
Swiss should be on the outer minute marker ring only and not double stamped.
Also look at the higher 6 o’clock marker position on yours when compared to other 1630s.
I would be concerned if I was looking to buy it.
Here’s a scratched up authentic 1630 dial for sale.

Thanks for the info. I thought it might be a service dial. It's listed significantly lower than an original-appearing example but I'm going to stay away. I scrolled through at least 120 pictures after searching and only found one other example, sold at some point in the past, with the marked dial along with the outer ring and the description was pretty spartan so nothing about the history.

Probably good idea it's 25% cheaper than the rest probably for that reason.

My theory is that it is a service inner dial and Rolex have to mark it as 'safe' non trit dial so they were forced to print the bottom 'swiss made' (only used from 1920s to 1953 and then again from 2001 to date - plus many service dials) so it's visible, as the outer ring was retained that has the T Swiss T nomenclature.

I have never seen a 1630 or 1530 with the dial marked like this, it’s always the chapter ring.

I suspect the dial is not correct for the watch and has been altered to fit.
