Hi Guys,
I have a Rolex Model 6098, i am looking to have it restored but the company i am speaking to say they can not source the correct crown, would anybody know the size of crown required? also any UK recommendations for Rolex restorations would be appreciated. Kind regards Freddie |

.
Welcome to the Forum! The original crown is referred as "Super Oyster" and it is approximately 6mm. The crown can be sourced in the secondary market and can have some ridiculous asking prices. I would concentrate on seeking UK recommendations for vintage restorations. I am sure someone can chime in on this thread or start a new one requesting for this information. Good luck! |

Is the crown missing from your watch, or do you have a service crown installed? If you currently have a Super Oyster crown, you should try to re-use it. As you probably know, they were not screw-down, and only used for a few years.

If you search the forum, you will find a few independent watchmakers frequently recommended for vintage Rolex repairs in the UK. You may want to contact them to ask if they think they can source the Super Oyster crown for your early 1950s ref 6098 as part of a full service/restoration.
