Introducing the all new 729 titano
So.... my wife and are on vacation and Florence is the last stop. Of course, we HAVE to stop into the Panerai boutique to see what's what.
What do you all think? Just released last week and not on the web site as of yet . The 729 is a 45 45mm titanium duo model. Some may not be fans of the new case size or the movement, but it feels like velvet on the wrist. Should I? The delimea is that one must go and it would have to be the D blue or the Sd43. I need to hang on to one Rolex though . . Price is 10700 e .... Pictured next to my 690. I'm so sorry but I didn't get the defence number but the reference with the silver dial is 13500 E with a rise gold movement . Again new in the last week. So should I??? Nice looking piece for sure but I couldn't part with either of those Rolex for one. I'd be happy with your 690 and stay put.

To clarify, it's a Due, not Duo. I like them. Very good choice for long sleeves because of the thinner case design. If you dress up often, I recommend it.

The watch will be there after the vacation.... and probably at a better price.
Enjoy your vacation and the 690, and see how you feel when you get back to the D-Blue and SD50. Personally, I could see flipping the DSSD for a classic Rad like the 232 instead of a Due if you want something thinner.... |

I love the D-Blue and it would have to be something seriously special to make me flip mine. I would not flip mine for a Due; knowing what I know now, it would be a real dilemma to let mine go for my 689 or 737.
I think what you need to do here is ask yourself if you're being caught up in the moment of being in the flagship boutique of Panerai's spiritual home. Maybe a new strap on a deployant buckle for your 690 would scratch the itch and not bust the bank. Also, as Nick and Cru have said above, the 729 isn't going anywhere. It's not a LE or anything so you have plenty of time to pick one up another day

I think you might regret that move. No move for me. Ruud, said it best, scratch the inch with a hard to find strap.

I would not buy it. Your 690 is perfect in my opinion and the new watch will only compete for wrist time. The DSSD and the SD43 are also great watches and if you want to make a move I would pause and see what I really am interested in once I got home. Just my thoughts. Enjoy your trip.

Great strap you bought there, Brian and a perfect (dress up) combo with your 690.
Due line never caught my eye. I can't explain it but for me a luminor case with Panerai's crown guard and 10,5 mm thick it's just weird. As Cru suggested take a look in the classic radiomir case with the wire lugs, which is one of the sexier cases ever made for a watch. 232 is also one of my favorite Panerai and you can find it in great condition and prices in USA and Canada. |

I think it was a smart move to pass on the Due. I'm enjoying my first Panerai (PAM111) and I really don't think you can go wrong with a Panerai. Just too beautiful and I always get compliments while wearing. It seems to be a brand that isn't known outside of the watch community which I enjoy lol.

Exactly, so why rush. Want a keepsake from Florence,...buy a nice strap for your Panerai.
