Day date 40 & Datejust 41

Would you own both day date 40 & date just 41 or do some of you think they are too similar ? Although the bracelets are different, the dials and fluted bezel Kind of make them both look similar.

Too similar imho. DD40 is the go-to.

Day date 40 & Datejust 41

If you buy DD in YG is completely different if you buy a DJ on SS... and also depends on the dial color.

If you can afford it, go DD. I went with a DJ 41mm and am looking to upgrade to the DD 40mm sometime in the future.

Too similar for a small collection, plus couldn't see myself choosing the DJ often over DD as I prefer sports watches most days any way.

It would be the DD over the DJ anyday anytime for me.

IMHO TT and Gold are quite different on the wrist and in the eye of the casual observer. Gold is pretty conspicuous; TT quite a bit less so.

I can understand not knowing the date, but if you don't know what day it is you are indeed likely to be mad enough to buy both DJ and DD!

I would be very happy to own both! A DD40, Everose Gold with olive green dial. And a DJ41 with black dial, fluted bezel and Oyster bracelet, please!

I think the DJ41 has larger stick markers, and somehow looks a bit sportier than the DD40, just my opinion. And I would want the black dial model I choose to look a bit sportier.

I think the two tone datejust and the Day date are fine together. The day date can be worn for dress and the date just more casual.

Only after you have every iteration of the 40 should you then consider doing the same with the 41, otherwise it's simply daft.

Here's wrist shots. The photos don't do that DD40 justice. It's a presence on the wrist during real time.

Too similar... No look at collectors of vintage Subs... where the difference is meters before feet, frog print crown, PCG, Mark I, II, etc. Bezel insert, etc...

I think that of you vary the dial colors and metals you will have a fine two watch collection. I would go with the SS DJ41 with the black, blue or white dial on a jubilee bracelet. The DD40 would be YG and the dial color would be the opposite of the DJ41.
