I was dreaming of a Rolex for a long time. finally saved some money for a GMT BATMAN, im originally from Israel and i will be in NYC in about 20 days form today. i want to buy the watch in cash in NYC and take it with me.

Im afraid to be cheated as scammed. how can i get the watch in NYC and be sure that im not get cheated.

Buy it from a Rolex Authorized Dealer. You can find a list of them on the Rolex website. That's the best way to assure you won't be scammed.

You can’t go wrong with one of the authorized dealers in NYC. I would recommend calling them in advance to check on availability since this reference is popular. Maybe you can ask them to source one for you and reserve it. Just a suggestion so you minimize time searching.

There isn’t an advantage to paying cash and you incur a real risk of being robbed. Using a credit card provides protection that cash does not. I also highly recommend buying from an Authorized Dealer. Even experts can be fooled into buying fakes or watches with bogus parts. Do not put the watch in your checked bags or your carry-on. You can be robbed either way. Wear the watch and have a duplicate of your sales receipt on your person.

Aren’t there any trusted sellers from this forum that are in NY for a face to face transaction?

OP, Davidsw may be a good source for you as well. Wiring the money, him receiving it and then shipping the watch overnight to you in NY should take less than three days total. Savjngs might be worth it.

From what I see in the FS, most TS here are in the diamond district and most NYers will say proceed with caution when dealing with stores/jewelers in the diamond district. I'd go to Wempe on 5th Ave if going the AD route and like most people will tell you, beware of Tourneau

Yep, AD. Wempe on 5th is where I got mine... also the Rolex boutique /RSC is right down the street. When i picked up mine a year ago, there were none in stock at the boutique, but walked right down the street and they had one at Wempe... I dont always see them in stock at every AD in NJ/NYC metro area, FYI

For those suggesting purchasing from an AD in NYC, wouldn't that leave OP subject to sales tax? Does that make using trusted seller more attractive? Or traveling to New Hampshire or Delaware? Is there any other way to avoid sales tax.

first off don't buy in cash or carry that much cash. With a credit card you actually have protection from exactly what your main concern is.

Current MSRP in USA for 116710BLNR is $8950. Plus NYC sales tax of about $800.

I have not dealt with him, but DavidSW has a rock solid reputation here. I would trust him.
