I'm planning to buy either a RubberB or Everest black rubber wristband for my Rolex Submariner 116610LN and I like the models of each of those that use the deployment clasp from an existing Submariner stainless steel bracelet.

HOWEVER... I don't want to take my original bracelet apart.

So, I was thinking that perhaps I could purchase just the clasp part of a bracelet to use with the RubberB or Everest deployment versions.

So here's my question: is that possible? Is it a good idea? And if so, what would just a clasp cost, and who sells that?

Thanks for any guidance that you guys might have!

An AD will not sell it to you so you have to go grey with prices from around $1500 for the Gildelock clasp and/or $2500 for a full Oyster bracelet.

Look at the sales section of the forum, they pop up from time to time.

Two screws; it ain't too tough

Now days a used clasp in the open market costs as much as a new replacement bracelet from the Dealer.

My AD Whittles in Preston, UK. Said they could sell me a glidelock clasp new from rolex for approx £1,200. My 116610LV clasp took quite the beating on a night out!

I'm not promoting this in any way, but a buddy told me that he read online someone bought a non-rolex clasp and used that instead. At first I was like "what? why would they do that??" but if you don't want to ruin your bracelet and don't want to pay $2k for a new one, it does seem like an alternative.

Buy a neat "filler" from Smarty End Links (http://www.smartyendlinks.com/index.php) and then you can put any strap or bracelet on you want.

I'm wearing both my subc and my Exp I with this set up. Works great and looks great. I also have the original bracelet if I ever want to use it.

Attached is the "end link" or "filler" that makes any band look like it belongs on your Rolex.

I for one, surely will never pay $2K or more for a buckle. Even gold does not cost that much.

You could be talking about me. If you did not open this door, I wouldn’t have replied. Anyway, here they are, in fact, I have several buckles. The rubber straps are from Everest and RubberB but the buckles are replicas.

They must have one in stock because Rolex will not wholesale one to an AD without a damaged one in exchange.

Nope, they stopped. New policy about 6 months ago. Rolex wont send out a new replacement, parts or full bracelet until a damaged bracelet or parts are sent in. This is the reason why the prices are so high in the secondary market.

There are plenty of Oysterflex homage rubber straps around. Some of them are branded illegally but others are not and have generic deployment clasps, use one of those if you want. I put the OEM clasp of my Daytona on OEM Oysterflex halves, two screws as mentioned above.

Blasphemous on here but when I tried a rubberB (for about a sum total of two weeks until I grew tired of it) I bought an identical copy of the Rolex glidelock (sans rolex crown) on etsy. It worked just like the original and was fine enough for the days I needed a rubber strap, which typically were days where a bracelet would take a beating.
