Depends if your happy with the large 47mm size or prefer 44mm. Also do you like the large crown guard of the Luminors or the regular crown of the Radiomirs?

You need to try them on. From pics I wanted a luminor, once I tried on Radiomirs, I changed my mind. Try on as many different cases as you can. Then focus on dial you want. Enjoy the hunt.

Panerai's website gives a good sense of the types of styles (Luminor, Luminor 1950, Radiomir, Radiomir 1940), but the best way is to try them on, especially when it comes to size and thickness.
That being said, if you have a sense of budget, style and condition (need to be new?), you could get some good ideas from members.

In the absence of pointers, perhaps start by looking at the 111 and take it from there. A 44mm Luminor/Marina probably the best bet for resale (especially if purchased used) if you are unsure of the brand.
This subject comes up fairly regularly, so perhaps a quick search of the forum might yield some useful info.

to start, you should at least go to Panerai web site and see what's available, and which style you are interested in.
good luck, panerai is great. but people here can give great advice once you have style you like narrowed down.

Depends on what stage you are at.
The things i asked myself is.. 1. Budget? 2. Style. Where and how am I going to wear it (How large? and is it a Luminor, Luminor 1950, or radiomir, Radiomir 1940 or the new Luminor Due and finally the submersible. 3. Daily or occasional time piece. Depending on all of that it will narrow down to some choices. Things to consider: is it a daily piece? is having a date or second hand important to you? Is inhouse a plus or a minus ? Maybe a general list but maybe something to look at. Sub :Pam 024, Luminor: Pam 000, Pam 104 Pam 005, (1950 case) Pam 312 Radiomir: Pam 380, Pam 609 |

The Pam 312--sandwich black dial, date, small seconds at 9, twin barrels in the stainless luminor- case. Wears well on a 7.5-inch wrist. My favorite Panerai.

I don't think you can go wrong with a classic 372 but if you want something a bit smaller a 351 should tick all the box's

go through the panerai website and see what you like.
luminor vs radiomir vs submersible, different sizes (42mm, 44mm, 45mm, 47mm), sausage dial vs sandwich dial, material (steel, titanium, ceramic), seconds subdial vs non, date vs non, etc. then check out an AD and try a few in person. i knew i wanted a luminor, 44mm, seconds subdial, sandwich dial. went to an AD and they gave me a 312 to try on. it was way too chunky and thick for my taste. tried on a 564 and it was everything i wanted...except for the tobacco dial. ended up with a 177 for my first pam and still love it. |

PAM 90. 44MM. It has a date with magnifier, and a (somewhat useless--but kinda cool) power reserve meter.
