JLC for AP?
Guys,
I have a JLC True Second in pink gold, lovely watch, but looking for more of an everyday piece! The 15400 has always been a grail for me, even though there are more expensive watches! So, the question, sell the JLC to fund a 15400? I think I know what you guys will say, but wanted to hear your opinions! Thanks! Jeffrey |

yep, without a doubt. Get the jumbo and with the movement's ties originally to JLC you have the best of both worlds

I would make that trade. The JLC is fantastic but the royal oak just tugs at the heart

AP for sure...The true seconds is a cool watch but the royal oak is a whole other level

Sounds like I got the response I was wanting! LOL
I will say this, I think the JLC with this complication is right on par with AP, it's just they are in 2 different genre's of watches! Think I'm going to make the move! |

Other AP models perhaps, but those octagonal dials on the RO don't do it for me.
Keep the JLC... one day you'll return to the simplicity and sleek dial. |

True Second more of a true dress watch and the true second mechanical movement complication is very cool. I'd want to have both so if you don't have to sell add. Otherwise go with what will get the most wrist time as that's the best indicator of what you really like best.

I'm with the group that will go with the 15400. It just puts a smile on my face every time I wear it. It's unique and truly "the first" in terms of Gentra design and the concept of high-end steel sport watches.
Not saying the JLC doesn't give you the same feeling, but in mind there are tons of groups with the simplistic dress watch raging from Patek, AP, JLC, Lange all the way to Seiko and even companies like Federique Constant runs these lines. The 15400 be worn dress up or down. |

I MUCH prefer the AP. I do not care for dress watches on straps in this day and age. You could wear the AP with a tux or in shorts. Go for it.

Man, I love AP to death, but that Jaeger is one hell of a piece! This is truly a "you need both" situation.

Thanks to this thread, I'm going to break out the AP and wear it for a while. I do have a pic of Jeff wearing it, but it shows his face. I'll comply with forum etiquette and not post. However, if you follow him on instagram, you've seen it. He looks good with a 15400 and NEEDS one NOW!!!

Chad,
I think you're right! I don't think I'm a gold person anyways... ok, that's a lie, I totally am, but something about the 15400! |

I owned 3 15400s. I love it but I would keep the JLC.
Have you tried the 400? That JLC is a small wearing 39.6 if I am not mistaken. The 14500 will wear very large. You might want to look at a Jumbo or 15300.

Given how good the JLC looks on your wrist I would try on the 15202 along side the 15400
15202 might be a perfect fit... |

I think the 15300 is the perfect size for me. I really prefer to stay under 40. I have the Air King and Sub which are perfect fits!
IF I CAN SELL THE JLC, I'm GETTING A ROYAL OAK! LOL Just whatever 15300 or 15400 I can get my hands on! |

Given that you already made up your mind, 15300 is a solid choice. Of course 15202 is a classic if you can stretch the budget.
