AP 44mm Black Ceramic (26405ce)
Hi guys!
Been wanting this as my daily. But, is the bezel (black ceramic) scratchfree unlike its SS counterparts? I know that ceramics can chip off if hit hard but I don't think that will happen to me. Had the 42mm Elephant a while back and the bezel easily scratches and annoys me. Mostly office works only. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! *picture not mine (for reference only). Scratch free CE... how did you easily scratch up your Elephant at an office?

Odds are you will not scratch the ce. If you do, it will cost a lot to replace the bezel or case. I highly recommend AP ceramic. It's beautiful and plenty durable for me as a mostly Rolex wearing guy.

The bezel on pretty much all of the 44s are ceramic so go with the one you like. Seeing as how you are mainly concerned with the bezel then you have lots of other options as well besides the full ceramic case |

As long as you exercise some wrist awareness, you will be just fine with the CE. The bezel is very scratch resistant. The CE wears pretty light too. My CE is almost a daily for me right now and it's been great. Take the plunge!!

The bezel is the most prone area, so any model equiped with a ceramic bezel would be my preference And not limit my choice to a complete ceramic model.

I've had a couple Ceramic ROOs where I was careful and never got a scratch. But I've also seen a couple ceramic bezels that did have scratches on them. The condition of the plots indicated they were used as beaters. The scratches on the Ceramic weren't as noticeable as on steel. The Ceramic hid them fairly well and they are only visible at certain angles.

Not sure those blue accents work against the black, much like the red on the other black models, it's a bit jarring. I prefer the anthracite.

Great choice! I am a huge fan of the black ceramic. While I prefer (and bought) the version with the anthracite dial, the new design is also really quite striking Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I wore an AP legacy for awhile and found it to be very durable however I was always scared to chip the bezel hence why I do not have it anymore.
I am sure it is decent if you are careful. |

I just picked up this piece a few days ago, and plan to wear quite frequently. Being my first AP and first ceramic, I'm blown away by the overall look & feel.
Hopefully the CE is as scratch free as others have said. First impression has been great! |

I will say all the new 44's (even the forum most popular titanium) photograph so much worse than in real life. By poor photographs i am specifically referring to AP's official photographs. The colors and the contrast just seem really off compared to real life for this batch compared to official photos of previous editions. The ceramic is the only one of the three i haven't seen in person and don't have but i suspect its another one that looks way better in person. I say that mainly because the gold on black on my RG44 looks great in real life and the ceramic is the same setup (just blue accents instead of red). A lot of the other photos, like these ones have the watch covered in plastic.

I saw it at the boutique in NYC and the blue stands out in the right light. IMO, the anthracite works better. I guess one has to love the black, blue, gold combo. Not knocking it at all. |

i get that, the anthracite is probably my favorite of the 3 ceramics. i hope to see the new one in person too. I just have issues with the pictures from this year. The rubber strap on the Ti on official photographs doesn't even look grey, it looks closer to black, its kind of weird considering its very, very grey in real life.

Talking from my experience...
I only seen one or two CE bezelz with visible scratches to the surface. However, they seem to fairly easily get micro/small chips on the edges of the bezel. Those are however not visible at all from a few feet. But if you hold one close fix your focus on the edge of the bezel and rotate the watch you will se "marks"/chips on many used pieces, not only the abused ones. With this said, the Offshore line is meant for active living. Wear the hell out of it.

Yes, I generally love blue, I have more blue dials than black at the moment, but this doesn't look as good as the red on anthracite for me.

I have owned this piece as well as the anthracite.
The new piece is much better than the anthracite imo.. It's a catch 22 for me- I have had all three ROO 44 releases from this year and only currently retain the RG. I'd love to buy another back but, with a new in house chrono coming out I question the longevity of these ROOs. At the same time they are my favorite of all versions. That is not what I said when they came out. Additionally, another poster made the comment about them photographic poorly. And I really agree with that statement
