First Patek!

Hello Patek Lovers,

I'm so excited to have acquired my first Patek, 5524R. This thing is a beauty though not getting much love from many. Sorry for the crap pics from my Motorola phone.

I hated doing it but I went grey as this is a great buy compared to brand new.

I hope this is the first of others to come. Definitely a nice addition and adds versatility to my collection (Rolex Batman, 36mm TT DJ, and gold skydweller).

Thanks for looking!

Duuude!! This is an amazing watch. Gorgeous robust dial is off the hook. Movement extraordinary. Accurate as all get up. The travel time complication is awesome. Lume? Thermonuclear, as one commenter said. Legibility? Insane. Strap gorgeous. As they say: “face … 10. Body … 10.” And what I love most of all: it’s the road less traveled. It’s the oddball. It’s the watch below retail. Way. To. Go. Great. Get. !!

I absolutely love mine.

Thanks man! Definitely an underrated stunner indeed. Can't stop looking at this thing.

One question I have about this watch though, when you move your wrist around can you hear the "cranking" sound of the rotor? Not sure this is normal? I've only had Rolexes which are very quiet.

I don’t think so but I pull it out of the safe tomorrow and take a listen.

Congratulations!

The 26-330 can seem a little noisy to someone who is used to the 31xx series Rolex calibers, or even the 32xx. But it is normal and becomes even a pleasure to listen to after some time.

Thanks for the congratulatory remarks thus far Gents!

Okay that's good to know. I actually thought it was pretty cool sounding when I first heard it, but just wanted to make sure it's normal. Gives it a more "mechanical" sound for sure.

Thank you!

Honestly, every single Patek impresses and is 10x better in real life than photos. Just something about them… Enjoy this one very much!

Congratulations! I do not have one, but I have seen it in person and it’s a stunner. Terrific reference, enjoy.

I noticed the rotor sound on my 5227 too.
Not sure if I like it or not yet.

Glad it's not just mine and might be a Patek thing depending on the movement. I'm just hoping it's normal and don't have to send it in. I kinda like the sound though lol

Noisy as hell and I love it, it’s a mechanical watch and sounds the part. Like it? No, love it. It’s part of the appeal.

Major congrats OP! I love this reference and flirted with the idea of purchasing it since its release. Reasons I didn't go for it:

- The case is fully polished. To me it lacks the typical complexity or Patek cases
- The same movement is used in the 5164 (not unique to the 5524)
- The movement doesn't cover the whole back of the watch
- Takes a proper beating in the secondary market, and I am not uber-wealthy...

I even tried to convince myself to get the 7234 so we could share it with my wife (justifications would be cost /2 since the 2 of us would be wearing it + only 3 years f existence) but again, couldn't justify a +10k hit right out the door...

Thanks John!

All very valid points and I considered them all but still love this piece. I went grey and got a great deal, so the secondary market issue benefited me here.
I'm not uber wealthy either but life is to short and I got what I want. I hope it's my first of many (well, a couple lol).

Cheers!

It's funny how this isn't a hard-to-get watch now, because it seemed to be a TRF darling when it came out. And I can't help cheering on someone who bypassed an AD to save money where ADs have been taking full advantage of their leverage for the last few years. What goes around, comes around!

Enjoy it!

Amazing watch. First Patek I ever tried on and loved the warmth of the rose gold with brown-black sunburst dial. Enjoy it!!
