AP 15450 or PP 5167 ??

I posted this on the Patek Forum but thinking I may get a different point of view on the AP Forum.

I am always eager to hear fellow watch collectors' mindset and feedback.

(yes I know I should buy what i like (and I will) but still good to hear what the community thinks)
  • Patek 5167 on rubber - MSRP
  • Patek 5167 on bracelet - MSRP
  • AP 15450 (blue) - paying grey market premium (I don't have AP relationship)
  • AP 15450 (white) - MSRP
  • AP 15450 (grey) - MSRP
I am a pretty active person and work out almost every day and don't dress up much for work (business casual), which is why my collection leans heavily towards Rolex.

To provide some context I currently have:
  • Rolex Daytona 116500LN - white
  • Rolex Daytona 116500LN - black
  • Rolex 126710 BLRO
  • Rolex 126710 BLNR
  • Rolex 116600 SD4K
  • Panerai PAM911
  • Omega Speedy Moonwatch
  • Tudor Black Bay noir ETA
Here's how they look on my wrist. Note the AP is a 14790, but have been told that it should fit similar to a 15450 or very close.

Thank you in advance for you feedback!

This one is easy. 5167 at msrp. I just love the aquanaut and you shouldn’t pass on one from an AD if you do too. You can always find a 15450 down the road and might even decide you prefer a 15202.

The blue 15450 is tempting but it depends on how steep the premium is. Otherwise, 5167 on rubber.

I was never a fan of the aquanaut... 15450st blue i the clear choice for me.

I think you have enough black dials. Lets get a bleu

I'm going to suggest getting both. Maybe sell a Rolex that you aren't too attached to if you need to free up funds. They're both amazing watches. The 5167 wins for comfort though and may suit your lifestyle more.

5167 at retail would be my choice. Then get a 15202 and you’ll be all set :)

Thanks!

15202 over the 15450? because.....?

(i'm worried 15202 at 39mm over 15450 (37mm) would be too large on my wrist especially given how how sweet the 14790 fits)

Personal preference. To me, the 15202 is the essence of the Royal Oak and that speaks to me. If you prefer the fit of the 15450, go with that - great watch as well

I think the RO is the nicer looking watch, but a 5167 is probably more in line with a sporty, active lifestyle (not that the ro couldn't handle it, though).

I would sell the black 116500 Daytona and buy both. That would make a really complete collection!

Tempting. However I think I'd lean towards selling the BLNR if I were to sell anything. I'm not planning to though

I would love 5167 AND the 15450.

And you're right it would complete the collection.

The 15450. That PP is just so boring to me in the flesh. Although if you will be using it to work out then the AP bracelet, while incredibly beautiful, is not something I would want to take into a gym.

i do like the AP. But paying grey $ is just sucks. As i am used to paying MSRP. But ever since AP went the boutique route, i'm kind of shut out of the more sought after AP watches

That said i do like the PP a lot too and it does suit my lifestyle quite a bit. I've seen it on green rubber and even leather and it can double a great looking dress watch, which is oddly missing from my collection!

The 14790 fits you better. The 15450 is not much bigger but noticeably more solid than the 14790. My 14790 fits like a dress watch but the 15450 wears more like a Daytona.

15450, not a fan of the latest Aquanaut hype. Don’t recall it ever being popular.. until the Nautilus craze hit.
